A plant-filled stack of timber beams forms the reception desk of an environmental association’s headquarters in San Francisco. Texan studio Logan Johnson Architecture designed the lobby for American company The Sierra Club. Native Californian plants grow in hollowed-out grooves in the reclaimed fir desk, while ribbons of light glow through the cracks between each beam.

The office furniture was fabricated using reclaimed oak and steel. Reclaimed oak has a tight grain due to the age of the wood and has a great patina when finished. The project included fabrication of a 12 foot long conference table, a number of coffee tables using an “I” beam as the base, and a reception area this included covering a die wall and countertop covered with reclaimed oak.
