But if the challenge is to come up with 3 exercises that work on all the major muscles that support the knee, that also force you to work on balance and stability then these are the 3 I would choose (at least ones that require no exercise equipment). 

There are also thousands of exercises out there and I’m not saying that these are the perfect 3 choices. But I am saying that these three exercises are a perfect way to work on most of the things involved in healthy knees.
