I totally get it, the wood is BEAUTIFUL and I wish I could… that would make my life much easier 😂 Problem is the wood needs to be protected and by just adding a topcoat it will yellow. 🙃 I opt for a paint wash especially with pieces with heavy grain to create a soft and calm look. I made the paint wash with 1 tbsp Harvest Brown by @behrpaint and a half cup of water. To apply the paint wash I first wet the surface with a towel which helps to create an even finish. Next I apply the paint wash with a staining sponge going with the grain. Immediately wipe off excess with a dry towel and use a large brush to blend more. 84K views · 593 reactions | Details HERE⤵️ When do I use the faux wood finish and when do I paint wash? ✨ Short answer: If I can show the real wood grain, I will. If the wood needs repairs, is full of wood filler that can’t be covered with a paint wash, I’ll use the faux wood finish. If it’s not solid wood or have a wood veneer, I’ll opt for the faux wood finish. Before finding a great stripper, I’d even opt for faux wood at times just to avoid having to strip the piece to raw wood. How to: Faux Wood - paint it any creamy, light tan color - brush on glaze and alternate a deck brush and broom until you have the look you’re going for - Topcoat once dry Paint/Stainwash - strip to raw wood - Dilute creamy beige latex paint with water, brush on and wipe off excess - Dilute latex stain or glaze, brush on, wipe off excess #fauxwood #paintwash #paintingfurniture | Shelly Chic Boutique

Roughly lay up against your wall how many panels you want. And then sketch it. Each panel strip is 10cm. So for me wall width was 310cm. I had 7 panels (10cm each) = 70cm. On my drawing this left me with 6 spaces between each panel. So 310-70= 240cm . 240cm/6 spaces = 40cm even gap between each panel piece. You will need to trim down the horizontal MDF to fit the width of your wall. Get a mitre box for this ( £7.99) if you aren’t experienced with cutting wood (like me 😆) this will keep you cut totally straight! Make sure you wipe down any excess glue or caulk immediately with a damp cloth. It’s much easier to wipe off than it is sand down when it’s dried!! It is so easy to do though and I put the whole kit up in a few hours! And then another few hours to prep and then paint! Such a good cost effective and easy way of transforming a boring wall in your home! I hope this gives anyone the confidence to give it a go, if I can do it in my fluffy slippers anyone can 😂 Shopping list below I got it all from @bandq_uk. £18 panelling kit - I needed x2 my wall was 3.1m Dado rail No more nails Caulk Wood filler Sand paper A cloth to wipe down A hand saw A mitre box Wood primer Level Tape measure Paint of your choice love Jade xxx (Ad- Will mark as an ad as I work with B&Q but this isn’t an ad) #BandQHome #BandQIt #diypanellingproject #diypanelling #panelling #panellingwalls #panellingguide #bedroom #bedroompanelling #affordabledecor | Jade Sweeney

90 reactions | Sandpaper is graded by grit number, which refers to the size of the abrasive particles on the paper. A lower grit number means larger particles and a coarser sandpaper, while a higher grit number means finer particles and smoother sandpaper. ➡️Coarse Grit (40 to 60): Use for: Heavy sanding, removing paint or varnish, and shaping wood or other materials. Example: Stripping old paint from furniture or smoothing out rough wooden edges. ➡️Medium Grit (80 to 120): Use for: General-purpose sanding, smoothing surfaces, or removing small imperfections before finishing. Example: Prepping wood for staining or smoothing plaster patches. ➡️Fine Grit (150 to 180): Use for: Final sanding before applying paint or finish. It provides a smooth surface without removing much material.Example: Sanding between coats of paint or varnish. ➡️Very Fine Grit (220 to 400): Use for: Ultra-smooth finishing and sanding between coats of finish for a professional result. Example: Buffing a surface after a coat of primer or between layers of varnish. ➡️Super Fine Grit (600 and above): Use for: Polishing, sanding metals, or finishing wood to an ultra-smooth, glossy surface. Example: Polishing wood or metal after applying a topcoat or clear finish. #faq #woodworker #wood #sanding #sandingwood #sandpaper #furniture #furnituremakeover | Kaitlyn Lato - Furniture Flips

1.5M views · 17K reactions | How to Fix a Drywall Crack in Ceiling FOREVER | How to Fix a Drywall Crack in Ceiling FOREVER | By komarproject | Alright, guys. So, here's a crack we're going to be repairing today in our ceiling. The first thing we want to do is find out where our ceiling joists are. I'm using inch and five eights drywall screws and I drive them in on both sides of the crack. In this case, I was able to pull the drywall up by an eighth of an inch in most spots. Now that our drywall secured to the joist, we need to open up that crack a little further and wherever I have a crack ending, in my case, I have two cracks. I made a circle around the end. This will prevent that crack from wanting to crack any further. It's time to apply first coat of mud and in my opinion, the very first coat is critical and I only use Durban for the first coat. It is so hard that it almost makes it impossible sand giving that crack the best chance for success. I mix it with water to a consistency between peanut butter and ketchup and apply it using a six-inch trout. Now, when I first apply it to the trial, I like to remove about an inch or so from both ends of it. When I apply the Durban to the crack, I don't want to be crazy with it because it does dry so hard. It's almost like concrete. I just want it three to four inches wide so that it holds the mesh I'm applying. Once the mesh is stuck to the wet mud, I can go over it with a little bit more Durabon locking it in place. Whether you use the mesh or tape, that's up to you. For cracks like this, I like to use the mesh because you can see the crack through it for the first coat making it easier to see in case you miss something. To avoid heavy-duty sanding or scraping, I wipe it down with a damp sponge to smooth everything out before it's too late. So we have our first coat of Durabon on the looking great. If you got a couple of high spots, just go ahead and run it with a putty knife and you should be good to go from there. Next, we're going to be moving on to our final coats. I always like to use dust control from Sheetrock. It's easy to work with and the best thing about it is it comes in a premixed bucket because this stuff dries white like the ceiling, I like to add a few drops of food coloring to it so I can see what I'm doing. To apply, I'm using a eight inch and a twelve-inch trout but in this second coat, you want to float out the mud about inches in each direction from the crack and when done, it should look something like this. I gave it a very light sanding with 220 grit on my orbital sander just to knock down the high spots and the outside edges feathered out a bit. This is the same exact type of mud but it's tinted yellow and it's called plus three tinted. I want the least amount of sanding when I'm done. So, with this one, I took my time and feathered it out even further than that second coat about three feet in total and here's how that final coat came out for me. I gave it twenty-four hours and I can start sanding again with the orbital but only to the outside feathering it to the ceiling. When I got to the corner, I used the medium grit sanding sponge to make the corner nice and sharp and then I can feather it out a little bit more with the sander. I grabbed a pulse sander with a hundred and 20 grit sandpaper and sand in the middle section of our repair. They have ones now that you can attach a vacuum to it which will catch the majority of the dust but I've had this one for years and it hasn't let me down yet. Whoo and that's pretty much it guys. All you need is a little bit of primer, paint, and you're good to go. And there you go guys. No more crack and it's gone forever.
