Indian aesthetics is a very vast and diverse subject which attracts scholars of Indian aesthetics. Texts like Bharatmuni's Natyashastra, Anandvardhana's Dhvanyaloka and Abhinavgupta's Locana are the most relevant text to fulfill the interest in Indian aesthetics. Indian aesthetics mainly concerned with three arts-poetry, music and architecture; though sculpture and painting can be also studied under aesthetic theory. According to Kapila Vatsyayan, "Classical Indian architecture, sculpture, painting, literature (Kavya), music, and dancing evolved their own rules conditioned by their respective media, but they shared with one another not only the underlying spiritual beliefs of the Indian religio-philosophic mind, but also the procedures by which the relationships of the symbol and the spiritual states were worked out in detail." The time period of Abhinavgupta was believed from 950 AD to 1020 AD in Kashmir. He was a versatile person with polymathic personality and genius in multidiscipline subjects like philosophy, metaphysics, aesthetics, music, poetry, drama, exegesis and theology at the very young age. He was one of the best Acharyas of the Monistic Shaivism. It is believed that Abhinavgupta was the predecessor of a famous Brahmin Attrigupta, a great Shaiva teacher and scholar of Kanauj, who had been invited to settle in Kashmir by the King Lalitaditya.

In the savage of society and mankind religion serves without god. Religious practises become so rigid that they forgot the morality. It all has been going in wrong direction.
