New York City: After three months' vacation the school children line up once again to the call of the school bell. Subtitle: The path of learning for the tiny tots is easy. New York City: Owing to the large force of police on strike duty, rookies from the school of instruction direct the traffic. Long Branch. N.J: David MacMorris, the Boy Scout who earned the most merits during the past year, receives a medal from the hands of President Wilson. Subtitle: An intimate view of the President at Shadow Lawn. The Caterpillar Tractor, a Triumph of American Engineering: Subtitles: 1. The armored "Tanks" which created such a sensation when used against German trenches on the Somme front, are designed from an American invention; 2. The "caterpillar," a track on which the small wheels run, is constructed so that it can be picked up and relaid as the tractor moves along: 3. The 120 h.p. tractor, weighing 28,000 lbs., goes merrily over hill and dale; 4. And there pulling root stumps and felling trees is child's play to the tractor; 5. And there is a little baby tractor which turns merrily in its own length. The "What Next:" An animated cartoon by M. Glackens. On the Western Front: The railroads are busy transporting shells to the army of the Somme so that the artillery may continue to blast a way for the Allies' advance. Subtitles: 1. The shells for the huge guns are brought directly to the batteries; 2. A detachment of field artillery leaves its supply base for another attack. London, England: Australian and New Zealand troops, scarred by the fierce battles on the Western Front, leave on their long tourney home. London, England: A large audience hears the bishop of London describe war conditions at an open-air service in one of the parks. Subtitle: He admonishes the public to aid their brothers in the field. Chicago, Ill: The treacherous deep is no longer to be feared, as a new life belt, easily worn under the coat, is put into use on Lake Michigan. Subtitles: 1. You can even read your newspaper while calmly reposing on the water; 2. This belt also introduced a new water sport which promises to become very popular.
