The assassin Targino arrives in town in search of a horse and, smart as he thinks he is, Manuel sells a sick horse to the murderer. Targino swears that he will kill Manuel and disgrace the reputation of Das Dô. Under pressure, Manuel invokes the magic of Toniquinho das Pedras to protect himself, but the sorcerer demands the mule as payment.
