Through the course of the war in 1915, the Kaiser's armies pushed deep into Russian territory crushing the Czar's capability to mount any substantial counter-offensive against them. In contrast to Germany's apparent success, Serbia had been dealt an even heavier blow from a combined German-Austro-Hungarian-Bulgarian force. This Central Power army steamrolled the little country that had been the flashpoint of the conflict, and chased the remnants of the Serbian army from the continent.
