Initially disregarded as a joke or false alarm, the news of an unimaginable disaster begins to spread. Early reports are littered with conflicting information as the public waits with bated breath for confirmation of the tragedy. Public pressure for the truth begins to mount as wealthy citizens post rewards for the salvaging of loved ones. In response, the crew of the CS Mackay-Bennett is hastily contracted by the White Star Line to recover the bodies of passengers who tragically perished just two days prior in the North Atlantic's deadliest maritime disaster. Mr. Crease, the on board mechanic, chronicles the grueling task despite his declining mental state. The story is loosely based on Clifford Crease's actual journal entries from the CS Mackay-Bennett's 1912 expedition.
