That is, until, he meets DALE, a young part-time gardener who he quickly befriends, and employs. Their relationship is one of physical and emotional dependence. Ed needs someone to drag heavy corpses and perform those ordinary "hired hand" tasks that would otherwise grind his ailing back. Dale, on the other hand, is intrigued by the seemingly worldly, yet often stiff, approach to life that Ed exercises.
