Its shrill cry never fades from his ears, and it never abates from his nightmares. It is the call of the northern goshawk, an aggressive bird of prey found deep in forests across the continent. And it is this call that leads Ben Simon (Liam Karry), a young grad student desperate to finish a paper on raptor behavior, out into the frigid north in the hopes of seeing the bird first hand. After a long day of trying and failing to catch just a glimpse of the goshawk, Ben thinks that his chances for success have vanished. However, his situation soon takes an unexpected turn as he realizes that he is not as alone in the woods as he once thought - something dark and terrible has followed him on his journey away from the bright city.
