Together, they have a son, Samir, who Fatima loves more than life itself. However, she falls prey to a blackmailing thug Abbas (Kamal El Shenawy) and is falsely arrested. Dr Ahmed divorces Fatima (seeing her as a shame to the family) and bans her from seeing her son, thus setting in motion Fatima's descent into a life of hardship and misery.
