I came across the left pic on an old phone last night and wanted to share. I'm so glad we decided to painstakingly expose the brick on this chimney. What I once thought of as an annoying obstruction is now my absolute favorite detail of our kitchen.

We stripped this old 1898 farmhouse kitchen down to the outside walls, tore wire mesh off of the old chimney to expose the brick, and removed layers of old floorings to replace them with slate. Adding distressed white shaker cabinets with bin pulls and glass knobs, a white farmhouse sink, Jenn-Air stove that can vent outside without a hood, and a fun and functional little island in the middle, it is a delightful room to cook in.
