Eco-maché Wabi-Sabi Bowl DIY Papermaché Upcycling Project

From trash to treasure! It was quite a long process from start to finish, but I did it! My first paper/eco-mâché project 🙌🏼 I used 5 egg cartons and other cardboard, ripped them into small pieces, let them soak in water for a day, blended everything, pressed the water out, added wallpaper adhesive and wood glue, mixed it, placed a ball in a bowl, wrapped it in plastic foil and formed the bowl. Easy Paper pulp recipe - how to make papier-mâché clay for DIY paper mache furniture!

Difficulty: Easy This is the best paper pulp recipe to use to make your own DIY paper mache furniture! Materials: • PVA Glue • Cardboard boxes • Pinch of salt • Flour (I use strong white but you can use anything you already have!) How to create the paper pulp clay • Rip up cardboard, place in bowl, cover with water & leave overnight • Blend into a pulp • Drain excess water using an old cloth • Measure out 4 cups of clay, 1 cup of flour & a pinch of salt. • Mix till combined • Add 1 cup of PVA & mix to create a dough/ clay Now you’re ready to create your own DIY paper mache furniture 💫

Transforming My Old Paper Mache Bowl with a New Layer of Paper Pulp

Today, I’m excited to share a step in my creative journey: adding a thin layer of paper pulp to my old paper mache bowl. I made this bowl a while ago but couldn’t decide how to finish it. Originally crafted from a different type of paper, it has a lighter appearance. Now, I’m giving it a makeover with a darker paper pulp made from recycled newspapers. To achieve the new look, I’ve decided to change the bowl’s color by applying thin layers of this newspaper pulp. I rolled out the pulp using a regular rolling pin, making it easy to work with. This post showcases just one part of the entire process, but I hope it inspires you to have fun with paper too!
