This requires an energy input, as heat. Solar radiation can be the source of energy as heat for this purpose. In this processes, water is evaporated, thus separating water vapour from dissolved matter, which is further condensed as pure water. Solar distillation is a promising alternative that can partially support the human needs for fresh water with an environment-friendly energy source. At 3 cm water depth evaporation rate was higher and hence distillate yield was found more of about 11 liters in winter. Increased salt concentration would result decrease in distillate yield. The distillate yield in lower basin was found to be maximum as the additional thermal energy was provided. Water quality analysis was carried out, it revealed that the total dissolved solids and electrical conductivity was significantly reduced after distillation and it was within the limits of WHO and BIS standards.

In the survey, data of biogas installation was collected from the national project on Biogas Development since 1982-83 to December 2006. It was found that nearly 13136 numbers of biogas plants were installed in the district. In the study, two villages from each block of Akola district were selected for collection of information about the biogas system. Nearly 140 number of biogas plants were installed in the fourteen selected villages of the seven block of district. Out of these, only 30 biogas plants (21 %) were found in working condition. The study reveals that a biogas user in the district faces the problem of dung and water availability for working of biogas system. It was realized that users of the studied area have not proper awareness about the problems occurred during operation of system which affected the working of ...

Radical cystectomy, as the most common surgical treatment for patients with invasive bladder canc... more Radical cystectomy, as the most common surgical treatment for patients with invasive bladder cancer (IBC) complicated by peritoneal metastasis, is usually accompanied by a urinary diversion procedure. In this study, we evaluated the improved tubeless cutaneous ureterostomy technique by comparing the resulting clinical effects with either a traditional ureterostomy and an ileal conduit urinary diversion. Clinical data from 85 patients who underwent 1 of the 3 procedures between April 2012 and April 2015 were analyzed retrospectively. In total, 30 patients underwent improved tubeless cutaneous ureterostomy, 28 patients underwent a traditional cutaneous ureterostomy and 27 underwent an ileal conduit urinary diversion following radical cystectomy. The incidence of complications, including stoma infection, nipple atrophy, terminal necrosis, urine leakage, external orifice stenosis, uronephrosis and ureterectasia in the group of patients treated with the improved tubeless ureterostomy technique was significantly lower than that of the patients in the other 2 groups, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). In addition, the duration of the surgery, intra-operative bleeding, the duration of the hospitalization period and the time to extubation in the patients treated with the improved tubeless ureterostomy technique were significantly decreased (P<0.05) compared with the patients in the other 2 groups. Finally, the health-related quality of life of the patients treated with the improved tubeless ureterostomy technique was significantly higher (P<0.05) than that of the patients in the other 2 groups. The findings of our study demonstrated that the use of the improved tubeless cutaneous ureterostomy technique following radical cystectomy in patients with IBC complicated by peritoneal metastasis resulted in improved clinical effects. Thus, improved tubeless cutaneous ureterostomy may be a promising alternative for enhancing the quality of life of patients with IBC.

Sp... more Spraying of pesticides is done to control pest and diseases for that purpose sprayer are used. Sprayer must break liquid in to droplet of effective size, also distribute them uniformly over the plants and regulate the amount of liquid to avoid excessive application controlling pest, diseases is one serious problem facing the farmers everywhere. In the view of these problems field performance evaluation trials of self propelled boom sprayer were carried out in cotton and chilli field. The average effective field capacity of self propelled boom sprayer in the field of cotton and chilli was found to be 1.28 ha/hr and 1.69 ha/hr, respectively. The average field efficiency of cotton and chilli crop was 62.74% and 81.02%, respectively. As far as concern of spraying cost by using self propelled sprayer was found to be Rs. 359.27 /ha and Rs. 283.87/ha for cotton and chilli crop, respectively.

Based on the quantification of fuel and air required in the drying application, the dryer surface area and combustor furnace size were computed. The net heat duty of the heat exchanger for the parallel flow type exchanger was estimated in the experimentation. The exchanger design parameters were computed for the LMTD, net heat transfer area, number of tubes and diameter, and heat transfer coefficient was determined in the study. The system was developed as per the design specification in respect of each component. The biomass-based air heating system consisted of biomass combustor equipped with pre-heating arrangement and smoke tapping unit, air distribution system and rotary tray drying bin. The power transmission system was designed and developed for rotating tray arrangement for the live and static load during the operation. The thermal energy performance of the system was worked out during the...

The green gram and soybean crop was sown by broad bed furrow planter which is developed by Department of Farm Power and Machinery, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukg Krushi Vidyapeeth, Akola. The same implement was used for inter cultural operation by changing its furrow opener by the inter cultural sweep. The inter row cultivator was tested as per the RNAM test code 1995 for both green gram and soybean crop. The inter culture operation was carried out after the 20 days of sowing for both the crops. The inter cultivator was tested in the laboratory as well as in the field as per standard procedure. The working width and depth of inter row cultivator was recorded to be 136.9 cm and 2.73 and 2.46 cm for green gram and soybean, respectively. The weeding efficiency of inter row cultivator was found to be 86.19 per cent and...

The chassis of the BEV sprayer was design and developed based on assumptions made on gross weight... more The chassis of the BEV sprayer was design and developed based on assumptions made on gross weight of the vehicle for carrying the suitable size of sprayer attachment. The e validation of design was made by using Finite Element Method (FEM) with the help of ANSIS software. For analysis of chassis different loading conditions as self-load of the vehicle and boom sprayer load was considered. The FEM analysis was done to validate the design consideration and assumption used during design procedure. Before the modifications in the FEM analysis it was observed that the 2 mm thickness of the design chassis cross members was found weaker which was modified as 3 mm and further analyzed. From the FEM analysis it was observed that 3 mm thickness of the beam was suitable for the BEV sprayer. The least maximum bending moment was observed as 0.144 mm with 3 mm thick rectangular hallow section which was safe for the fabrication work of BEV chassis hence, a rectangular section of 50x42 size was selected. The CAD system with ANSYS software was found suitable to reduce time required for repetitive design calculation, fabrication, assembling work during the actual entire fabrication process.

Despite many disadvantages of natural drying, almost 80% of farmers are using open sun drying method for drying their crops. Open sun drying, in which the product is spread on ground in open, is the simplest and cheapest method of drying. But there are considerable losses associated with it. So, the advanced method of drying i.e., solar drying can also be used for drying the products and improve the quality. In this paper, comprehensive study of solar drying of various products is presented.
