drawing challenge 168: FRIDA

FRIDA, with her laces, ribbons, skirts, rustling petticoats and the braids
the moonlike headdresses opening up her face like the wings of a dark butterfly
FRIDA an endearing and, finally, happy figure, in spite of all the suffering
her voice was deep, rebellious, punctuated by belly laughs

with this drawing challenge i would like to honour FRIDA
and i wish i was more like her
but i also would like to honour two other woman
first Elisabeth the initiator of this drawing challenge 
which started in january 2011 and who is a fan of FRIDA
and secondly sweet Ariane who kept the dc going and loves flowers ;^))

i used a piece of cotton and an embroidery hoop 
made some pompons and found a nice picture of a young Frida from 1930
which i used as an example for my felt-tip pen drawing 
added braids and flowers and colored them with acryllic paint 
and finally added some embroidery

borduren van knopen met kruissteekjes
terwijl ik nadenk over welke stoffen, welke kleuren en
welke verhalen ik wil vertellen....

varen mijn drie mannen met onze zeilboot TREES naar Friesland

but i chose this one

er zijn zo veel mooie zinnen die ik zou willen citeren 
maar ik koos voor deze
Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder
vanwege het woord wonder, verwondering
het wonder van het leven, zoals
de metamorfose 
van mijn zonen, van jongen naar man
of het openen van de bloemknop van een pioenroos
gewoon het wonder 
van alle dag

op mijn werktafel
allerlei: linosnedes, linnen, borduurpatronen
langzaamaan weet ik weer
wat ik wil vertellen en maken
in zwart, wit en naturel

langzaamaan komt de winter-kerstsfeer in huis....

daarnaast maakte ik een kussen van een proefdruk op linnen van een van de uilen
speciaal voor de Adventskalender die v van 'a butterfly in my hair' organiseert
ik ben zeer vereerd!

I also made a cushion of a proof on linen of one of the owls
especially for the Advent calendar that sweet v of 'a butterfly in my hair' organizes
I am very honored!

maakte ik allerlei dingen af
een brief
de T(rees)-shirts
en meer
plukte verse bloemen en maakte mijn hoofd leeg
voor een nieuwe opdracht
portretten van uilen in de stijl van het roodborstje
zin in!!
