Yet, in the twenty-first century there are still crimes in every society in the world. We wonder if crimes can ever be eliminated. We wonder if crime has become the norm. If not, society must offer the tools to. Mr. Randall Collins discusses three explanations for crime in his article The Normalcy of Crime. He shares with us the Conservatives view in which practically there is no mercy for offenders. The focus is on the crime and established punishments unlike the Liberal view. The liberal view seeks to study the individual’s trajectory in life before being caught by law enforcement. Lastly, both crime and the criminal are put aside to only focus of law enforcement. This radical view stipulates that the agents of law enforcement and the authorities are enablers.
