General T.Y. Danjuma, former Chief of Staff of Nigeria, while speaking at the maiden convocation and 10th anniversary celebration of Taraba State University on 24th March 2018, alleged that the Armed Forces were conspiring with herdsmen to kill innocent Nigerians. He called on Nigerians to defend themselves, since the government and the military failed in their security function. The military on the hand was of the view that Danjuma's call for Nigerians to defend themselves against herdsmen attacks is an invitation to anarchy. This study used the Framing Theory to analyze how two Nigerian dallies (Punch and Vanguard newspapers) framed the news to ascertain if the reports favour Danjuma or the military. The study suggests that the news media was very positive about Danjuma's position; the issue of self defense was salient while the call for anarchy was de-emphasized.

Since this trend started, people in political positions are no longer accountable to the citizenry, rather to their sponsors. Corruption becomes a direct consequence of godfatherism . Public enlightenment therefore, is required to create the awareness needed to understand how godfatherism influences political elections. This study is hinged on the Social Cognitive Theory and adopted survey methodology with questionnaire as instrument to examine the role Nigerian Film industry as an agent of public enlightenment plays in sensitizing the public on the dangers of politics of godfatherism . Do Nigerian Films portray politics of godfatherism ? Is the portrayal consistent with the reality on ground? What is the direction of the portrayal? Is the audience able to identify the subject matter as to help them in making wise decision during political elections? These are the questions this study seeks to provide answers to. The need existed to understand if the online platform used by the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples‘ Democratic Party (PDP) and challenger Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC), as part of a complimentary media strategy, was effective in shaping voter behaviour in that part of the country. Data generated from 200 respondents showed that although Twitter provided the information needed via voters‘ interaction with political candidates, it did not significantly alter voter interest nor affect voting decision. Voters could not recall their use of Twitter as a factor in casting their ballot owing to post election time lapse.
