Paul Frankl old

Paul Frankl - October 14, 1886 – March 21, 1958 (age 71). An Art Deco furniture designer and maker, architect, painter and writer from Vienna, Austria. Frank completed his architectural studies in Berlin at the Berlin Polytechnic. Spent time in Berlin and Copenhagen before arriving in the United States in April 1914. He settled in New York City and where he was gained a new perspective on his pieces and was inspired to forge a uniquely American design aesthetic.

1. Frank started as an architect then later switched to designing and painting art and furniture. He more than any other designer has really made an impact by helping shape the look of American Modernism.

2. Around 1920's he introduced his skyscraper style in furniture. He then opened a store on 48th street for his skyscraper style furniture calling it "Skyscraper Furniture". He also sold tiles and wallpaper imported from Europe.

I feel like with his whole skyscraper that Emerald City from Wizard of Oz either inspired him or was referenced in his furniture.
