DIY Free Standing No Sew Gingerbread Man | man | DIY Free Standing No Sew Gingerbread Man | By The Celebration Co. | Good morning, everyone. Hello, y'all. It's Kayla with The Celebration Company. Y'all this morning, I am taking a risk, okay? I'm taking a risk on this one. I do not know if this is going to turn out. So, I'm attempting to make a free standing stuffed gingerbread man. Um I am taking inspiration from the ones at Hobby Lobby. This one's going to be slightly different than those but I don't know. We'll see. Don't know if it's going to turn out but we're going to attempt it anyways because if it does turn out, it's going to be adorable, okay? So, we shall see, alright? We shall see. So, when hop on, say hello. Let me know that you are watching. Let me just pull this up on my computer real quick. I hope everyone's having a really good morning. I hope you have had a great week so far. Um hi, Wanda. Hi, Carol. Hello, Misty. Hey, Christine. Hello, Belinda. Good morning, Dana. Um Griffin had a great birthday yesterday. Y'all we got him a hoverboard and let me just tell y'all. Um proud mom moment yesterday, okay? Let me just, I just have to tell you all about this because I am super proud. Um so, Griffin got a hoverboard. He's been asking for a hoverboard and so we decided to give it to him yesterday when he got home from school. Instead of giving it to him when we have a big family celebration on Sunday because I knew he would want time to be able to ride it and give it a go and so we gave it to him day when he got home from school Andrew and I were both here and he at first was like scared of it we put his helmet on we stood him on it I was holding his hands you know and walking with him and he went about six feet and he's like okay I don't want to ride it right now you know and and you could tell that meant that he was nervous about it he was scared he wasn't sure about it and so that's what he does a lot with things he won't he won't just like push through the fear and give it a go and like figure it out he will back away from that fear and say no and so Andrew and I are like because we know how Griffin is I'm like if you do not learn how to ride this thing and give it a try then mommy and daddy are going to have to return it because we're not going to let it just sit around and you not you not try it you know it's expensive it's not a cheap little toy so I got on it and which I had tried it before and so I got on it and I was riding it around the house showing him and then he's like okay I want to do it so he actually figured it out you guys he spent like 2 hours on that thing yesterday which is insane because the only thing my child will spend two hours on is that tablet so he spent two hours riding that thing yesterday all by himself around the house and did amazing He did such a good job. He was spinning it in circles and he was going down, you know, and crouching down on his on his bottom while he was riding. I mean, he was doing all kinds of things. So, anyways, we were super duper proud of him. Super duper proud of him. Um yes exactly Lois that's right and that's basically how he was I held his hand we went around the house a couple of times and I just start you know back in a way and I'm like look you're balancing on your own you don't need mommy you know and he just got comfortable with it very quickly and he is obsessed obsessed with it last night we got home from the movies he wanted to get on his hoverboard it was late I'm like nobody got to go to bed then he can I get on it in the morning? And I'm like buddy you're probably not going to have enough time. Um so anyways he I have a feeling that he's going to be well entertained today when he gets home from school. Um I hope it last. I hope the enjoyment lasts. Mary Lee Davis is it is similar to a skateboard but very different. So it looks kind of like a skateboard in the fact that it's just sort of a long rectangle but it goes a different so you stand on it and it goes forward you don't have to use your foot to push it forward you just it's automatic so you stand on it and when you push your toes forward push your toes down it goes forward when you push your heels down it goes backwards so anyways it's similar I think it's very similar to a segway without without the part that's got the handle on it. It's just you just stand on it. There's no handles. So, you've got to have balance for sure. Anyways, y'all. I'm so glad you guys are here with me. The new Clifford movie was super cute y'all. It was super duper cute. There were quite a few funny elements in it. Um we all laughed. We all laughed. Uh so, we really enjoyed it. So, I highly recommend Clifford. Um go see Clifford for sure. Hey, Amanda. Um Hello, everyone. Good morning. Hello, you guys. Um Lois. Yes, girl. Well, get it for him. Get it because Happy birthday, TJ. Happy birthday. So anyways I I was very nervous about it but I feel like once they get comfortable with it it's not too bad and obviously he's going to wear a helmet you know but I like it because he can ride it around the house and so that's it's small it's not like huge it's something that he can ride around the house and when he's riding it around the house I'm not really too worried about it I'm still going to have him wear his helmet but I'm not worried about him like you know hurt his elbows and his knees and skin and things up and all of that. So, anyways, let's move on y'all. So, to the gingerbread man, We'll see. Okay, here's the plan. So, what we're going to do, we've got some felt here. This is just so I got it from Joanne's and it's got sort of that gingerbread color and let me get all this out of the way so I can spread out. Let me turn on my hot glue gun. So, here's the plan. We are going to draw sort of a gingerbread shape onto here without the arms and without the feet. So, just the body is what we're going to draw. And I'm going to make it pretty big. I want this gingerbread man to be fairly large but I'm also going to make it bigger because once we stuff it once we hot glue it together and we turn it inside out, it's going to get smaller, okay? Thank you Emily for the stars. So, here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to use a permanent marker. I'm going to use the pin side of a permanent marker and I don't have a template, okay? I don't have a template. I'm just going to freehand it. Okay? So, what I'm kind of wanting is I'm wanting a round head but I'm wanting the bottom to just sort of be like elongated So, is this going to work? No. Let me use the marker instead. Alright. So, I'm just going to start by just making sort of the shape that I think I want okay? So, you all see and I am making it fairly large like I said because I know it's going to get smaller as I glue them together and flip it inside out and all of that. It's going to get smaller. So, I'm thinking something like that and I am bringing it up, okay? And then, we're going to make just like a round head. Alright. So, something like this, okay? Can y'all see all of that? Let me flip it so you can see. Alright, so that's the shape that I made. Let me measure it for you and tell you how big this is. Um Let's see here. So, the largest part of the bottom is and I hope it's not too big. We're we'll have to see. Um is twelve about 12, 12 and a half inches and then it is about 21 inches tall, okay? It's about 21 inches tall. So, Diane, just bear with me, okay? Bear with me on the legs because I do have a plan but it's going to be little bit different, okay? So, this is where we're going to start. I'm going to cut this out. We're going to cut out two pieces of it. So, I'm just going to cut them together. Um Jenny, we are making, we're attempting, okay? Listen, y'all. I'm just prefacing this. It may not work out the way I want it to, okay? So, I don't know. I don't know. We're just giving it a go. We're just going to give it a go. So, I'm going to cut out two layers, okay? So, I'm just keeping these two pieces together and I'm just going to cut them out. So, the legs and the arms are going to be separate, okay? So, that's the reason why I'm trying to tell y'all just bear with me. I got a plan. Oops. Lost one side. Oh Ellen oh my goodness you know Griffin has always been that that person that he will he'll only do it if he wants to and riding a bike was one of those things you know we tried multiple multiple times and he just wasn't interested and so you know sometimes you just gotta wait until they're interested Listen, this was super simple to draw out. Listen, if you need help with it, then first of all, for the top, just use something round. Use a plate or a napkin or something that you have laying around in your craft space in your kitchen that is Oh, I'm so glad Tina. Um that is round and then for the bottom, I mean, it didn't have to be perfect y'all and and you can do multiple different times. If you feel more comfortable with it, start with a piece of paper making it with a piece of paper and then then mess with it, okay? Okay. So, here's what we're going to do. We're leaving it just like it is. Okay, I'm going to leave it just like it is. I'm going to start with some hot glue, okay? And we're going to glue all the way around. We're going to leave the bottom open though, okay? So, I'm going to glue all the way around and leave the bottom open. It's okay that our marks show here because we're going to flip this baby right side out. Is that right? Yeah or inside out. However you want to say it. We're going to flip it and then we are going to then all of this that we have marked is going to go away, okay? Um Brenda, Griffin had a really good birthday. I've talked about it a little bit. He had the best day. He really did. And y'all, I'm low on hot glue. Um so, there might end up having to be a part two of this. I'm not sure. We'll see and we'll see how long it takes us. It might come to shape a lot quicker than I expected to. I'm not really sure. We'll see. So, I'm just putting hot glue all the way around the edge. Wanna make sure there's no empty spots of hot glue because then you're going to have a hole. If you like to sew, you can also do this by sewing it. That would be great. But as we all know, I avoided if as much as I possibly can. And it doesn't matter like how I mean, I say it doesn't matter but really and truthfully, I probably should be trying to be careful with the edge because the more uneven it is, it will show with hot gluing things. It that is true but I'm not being real specific at how much how far in I'm going with it. I guess it's what I'm trying to say. Hello, everybody watching today. Now, don't forget we're going to leave the bottom open. Imma come around the curve here just a little bit but then I'm going to leave some of that open. Okay, let's do this side. I really hope this turns out the way I want it to. I don't know if it will or not. So, I'm wanting it to be a standing gingerbread man. So, I can put it next to my gingerbread tree in my kitchen. So, I'm wanting it to stand on its own. I want it to be freestanding. So, we'll see. We'll see how this goes. Let me do just a smidgen more down here at the bottom. Alright, there we go. I want to make sure that it is really well like cooled so that it sticks. Um Gina says, is that glue you are using for material or is it regular? It's regular. It's just regular hot glue. I've actually never used the kind that's made for fabric but you could certainly use that, absolutely. So, I'm just waiting til this cools down really well and then we're going to flip it, okay? Now some other things I have that we are going to be using today is some Dollar Tree shoes okay we're going to be using these cute little Dollar Tree boots these are an ornament we're going to be using these that's one of the areas that I hope looks good because the ones at Dollar not Dollar Tree the Gingerbread Men at Hobby Lobby have Gingerbread Feet and there was no way for me to figure out how to do that. Um so, I am using those shoes and I'm hoping it's going to look cute like the gingerbread man has little shoes on. We'll see. Okay, we'll see. Um and then, I've got some dowel rods, okay? Something kind of hefty. These are probably not going to be long enough. I may end up even having to extend them a little bit. I've got some Styrofoam. I've got some kitty litter and then some that's going to like form the base of our gingerbread man and then we're going to need some other things like some embellishments okay so I'm going to flip this Thank you, Alyssa. Alright, so we're just going to flip this inside out. And I'm running my fingers on the inside. We want to make sure it's nicely pushed out. All of those seams are pushed out. So, we have a really good circle for the top. So, you see why I started out big because it's going to get smaller as we go, okay? So, it already looks quite a bit smaller to me. Now, we're going to stuff it, alright? If there is any spots along the edge that you don't like from hot gluing it, then you could always come back and fix that. You'd have to turn it back the other way and then just fix it however you want to. Okay. So, I've got some batting or a cheap pillow from Walmart. So, just some a cheap pillow from Walmart and we're going to stuff this. So, get it all the way up into the head. We want it pretty well stuffed, okay? This fabric came from Joanne's. It's felt, okay? So, it's just a gingerbread-colored felt. I did not see it at Hobby Lobby. I did look for it at Hobby Lobby and I didn't see it. Now, my head, I wasn't as careful with the hot glue as I probably should have been. It's not as super round as I'd like for it to be but I have some ideas to kind of cover that up one of the biggest things is making sure you've got plenty of batting in there really pushed up against those seams and those edges to really help push it out, okay? So, I want it very well stuffed. I don't want it to be sparse in there. So, we're going to use quite a bit of stuffing. Okay. Are y'all seeing my gingerbread man take shape? Grab a bunch more. I'm excited too. I don't know if it's going to turn out the way I want it to or not. We'll we'll see. We will see. Uh oh. The wind is getting crazy around here. It's just knocked something off. So, this is just a regular bed pillow that I'm using. I'm stealing the stuffing from. It's this from Walmart. It's called an every night pillow. They have like pillows for just a few dollars like three bucks. You can get a bed pillow and I love to use those for batting and stuffing for things. I've like it's just so much more affordable. Okay, we're getting there y'all. We're getting there. I hope I have enough batting. Taking a lot more than I thought. How much did you get for the Gingerbread Man? How much did you get for the Gingerbread What do you mean, Alyssa? I'm not sure what you're asking there. Do you mean how much batting did I get? So, this I've already been using it. So, there was it was about half full and I'm using every single bit of it. I actually wish I had a little bit more because that is gone. So, we're going to have to roll with what we've got. Because this is all I have left. Alright. Oh, how much yardage? So, Wendy, you probably only need about a half a yard felt is pretty inexpensive as well y'all. So, but I would say I only used about a half a yard of it. Alright, so I'm just pushing it out to the edges to make sure all of those seams look nice. Alright, so here is where we're at, okay? We have a little hole at the bottom and we've got it nice and stuffed. I'm not feeling confident in it just yet. We'll we'll see. Uh We will see. I'm trying to get it here into the neck really well. Okay. Alright. So, here's where we're at. Now, what we're going to do is work on our shoes. So, these are from Hobby Lobby. I'm sorry, Dollar Tree. These are from Dollar Tree. Um they're ornaments. When I found these, I picked up a couple of them because things like this are great to use for gnomes or for something like this. I hope it works for this. I don't know. We'll see. Okay. So, Imma cut off the hang because we don't need that. They're super cute on their own so I'm not going to do anything to them. They're adorable. They've got the cute little sweater material on em, the fur, and the little pom pom ties. Love it. Um so, I'm going to take some kitty litter because I feel like I need a I feel like I need some bulk in here, okay? A little bit of height because our feet is what's going to hold up our Gingerbread Man, okay? So, we're going to pour, this is just kiddie litter from Dollar Tree. It's left over from I don't know, a previous craft we did. I don't remember what it was. I'm not filling em all the way up. Actually, I probably got a little bit too much in that one. Let me just because these are hollow in the middle, okay? Now, Now that they are filled, I'm going to take some hot glue. Imma put some hot glue on top of the kitty litter and then we're going to put in some styrofoam. Is that what I want to do? I'm thinking. Nope, you know what? I don't think I'm going to do that. Bare with me. Alright. So, I've got just some scrap pieces of Styrofoam. We're going to fill this up with Styrofoam on top, okay? So, y'all see about how much I filled them. Let me just even em out a little better. Okay. So, I'm going to take some scrap Styrofoam Someone said small feet. I hope it looks good. I don't know y'all. I don't know. This is like I said, one of those things. I'm going to test it out. We're going to see if it works or not. Okay. So, Imma try to get this to fit in here as tightly as I can. Awesome, Amy. So, just get it in there really tightly, okay? I'm going to put a little bit more. I'm just going to try to fill it up to the top. I think though I'm going to take a little hot glue around the edge to just sort of help to hold it in Okay. Alright. So, now I'm going to just put some more hot glue just again around the edges. So, I'm going to be sticking my dowel rods through these. So, I want to make sure that I'm going to be able to get em through but I don't want the Styrofoam falling out. Wanna make sure it's good and secure. Okay. Alright. So, now they've got a little bit of heft to them. Okay, this is what it looks like. Let me clean up the Styrofoam. It makes a mess. Alright. So, we're going to take our dowel rods and I think I am going to add a little bit of extra height to them. So, I'm going to take a couple of wooden skewers. Popsicle sticks would work as well and I'm going to put the pointed side up. So, I'm just, I want the skewers to, I want it to go all the way up through the head, okay? And I'm going to take I'm going to use floral tape. I just bought some. I think that'll work. So, I'm just going to take some floral tape maybe. Okay and I'm going to wrap this up to make this longer. So, if you had a longer dowel rod by all means, you don't need to do this part. Okay. There's that one. Ooh that stuff is so sticky. Okay. To the next one. Alright, y'all. So, here's what we're looking for. Something a little bit longer. Ew, I cannot stand that. Hang on a second. Let me see if I can get. Let me see if I can get rid of that. That stickiness. Um Thank you, Tina. Um the plastic sheet came from Ikea and I love it a lot. It's very easy to clean. I can take my scraper and scrape all the paint off and it comes completely clean. Um Me too, Amy. Her ornament turned out super cute. Okay. So, here's what we're going to do. We're going to take our dowel rods. We're going to stick them inside our shoes as far as we can get them and I'm going to put some hot glue, okay? Before I start putting them in, and I'm just going to push it straight through. Okay? Like that. We're going to do the same thing to the other one. I have no idea what it's called Crystal. Honestly, mom got it for me. I assume it was in the kitchen stuff but I don't know this for a fact. I was not there. So, So, fill in as much as you have to make sure it's nice and secure, nice and secure around the sticks. We don't want anything coming apart. So, I'm just putting a bunch of hot glue all the way around. To keep it secure. Okay, while those are chilling, let's work on the arms, okay? So, for the arms, we are going to do the same thing that we did a second ago with the gingerbread man with the body. Um but we're going to make an arm shape, hopefully. So, let me find my marker. Where is it? Here it is. Alright. So, I'm going to do I'm not really sure but I think I'm just going to make a kind of a like a petal shape almost is what I'm thinking. Um that should be about right. So, here's what I made for the arms, okay? Alright, I'm going to cut this out and then we'll use this one as a template for the second one so that they match each other. I'm going to give myself a little bit of extra height because I'm not really sure how big it needs to be. Okay. So, just like this. So, I'm going to do the same thing. I'm going to lay that down and I'm just going to trace around it. Okay. Cut that one out. I really should be cutting in a little bit inside my mark instead of outside my mark so it's same size and cut two layers together y'all. I'm cutting two layers at one time so that I get two identical pieces. Okay. Um I don't think that this is silicon. I saw someone say a silicone matte. Silicone would be amazing. It would probably be better than this. This was like a dollar ninety-nine at IKEA and it's not silicone. It is more like a plastic than a silicone. Could be completely wrong because I've been known to be wrong but it does not feel silicone to me. It feels like it feels like plastic. Oh Jessica. What am I going to do for my stuffing? I may have to go down to my basement and get a pillow. It's what I might have to do y'all. I don't think I have anything up here I can steal. I have an idea. Got an idea. We're we're going to be just fine. Spider webbing. Let's give it a go. Let's see if it works. Okay. So, we're going to do the same thing with our arms. Make a nice little line leave I'm going to leave the big end open. Maybe I'll leave one of the edges open. I think I'm going to leave an edge open. So, be sure to leave a spot open. Plastic bags absolutely that works as well for stuffing Okay, let's do this one. I just sort of left the top corner open. Okay. So, once that cools, then we're going to turn it inside out it's possible Joyce I don't really know to be honest I'm not really sure so for this we need to be careful because and if we tear it a little bit that's okay but this is why you want to make sure it's really well cured because this is tight to turn inside out so you could possibly tear the seams a little bit if you do then like I said just hot glue it back Okay. I'm using a ruler here to push it through and like I say, you've got to remember to go a little bit bigger. It's going to look bigger than what you want it to be. Just like with this, it looked a lot bigger than what we technically wanted it to be. Um yes, this is going to work. This is going to work. Okay. So, let me do this one. The Um let's see. Ellen says, Maine has no plastic bags anymore. Bring your own or pay for paper. Wow, Ellen. Listen, when we were in California and I had never experienced this. Um you had to pay for bags. So, if you wanted a bag, a plastic bag, they did have plastic bags but you had to pay for them. Um and I found that very interesting because here in Kentucky, yeah, the only place that you can't get a bag is at Aldi. That's the only place you gotta pay for a bag that I have ever come across. So, Kroger's still has plastic bags. Alright, so just push all this out. Push those seams out to make sure you get as much of a rounded shape as possible. Of course, it all depends on your hot glue gun skills as well on how good it's going to look. Okay. Let's take our very very messy spider webbing and see if I can ooh. I hate the spiders. Ugh. I forget there there. Gross. Y'all I hate spiders. I hate spiders so badly. Ugh. Yucky. Ugh. Okay. Now that we're over that. Alright. This stuff is awful. Let's just pull some apart. I'm going to fluff it up as well so that it's more, there's more to it. Barb. Hello, girlfriend. He really enjoyed his birthday very much. Okay. Alright. Because of the way this stuff is. Imma cut some of it so I can get it in here because you can't hardly pull it apart. Let's see here. Let's see if we can't get these arms stuffed. I'm just going to use my ruler to just push it down That's right, Mary and that's exactly what I usually do. I ran out of my stuffing a minute ago but I always use the cheap pillows from Walmart for my stuffing. They're just bed pillows. They're like three bucks y'all. Three or four dollars for a whole pillow full of stuffing. Alright, this is working y'all. This is working. I'm just pushing it out with my fingers. Okay, let's get some more. Oh, shut up, Barb. You did not. Don't even. Oh my goodness. Stop trying to freak me out, girlfriend. Alright. Let's see. Okay. Almost there. I'm also kind of just looking. I don't think I need much more, okay? Of of length. Okay. I think I'm going to stop right there. I don't want it super full at the top and again, it's okay to have a little excess, okay? Alright, let's keep filling this other one. Goodness gracious. I don't recommend using this but if it's all you got by me, by all means, go for it. In a pinch, it works. But it sure is messy. Thank you, Crystal. Okay. We're getting there y'all. We're getting there. Sorry, this part is slow. Gets bigger the more you pull on it which I guess is what we need. I just threw some of this stuff away the other day. It's like, I'm not going to use that. I don't like that stuff but I had one package and look at me using it now. Okay, hopefully this should be should be pretty good here. Let's see. Okay. Alright. Let's start putting this together and see see if it works. See if it's cute. See if we can make it look cute. I don't know. Just all the things. So I think having the I don't know for sure but we'll see. Having it's a little skewer at the top. It might help to get our legs in here all the way up to the top. So, I'm going to try and just get em in the middle and I'm just going to keep pushing until they're where I want them to be and let's do the other one. The dowel rod is hard to get in there. Go on. You just aw. See, I cannot get it to, this one's not being very polite. It's wanting to go through the back instead of right through the middle. I gotta get my hands in here y'all. I've got to perform surgery. I'm a gingerbread man. Sorry y'all. The school's calling me. That's never good. Okay, let me see here if I've got it or not. Okay, I think I can make it work. Let's see if it stands. See? This what I meant. This what I'm saying. I'm not sure if it's going to work or not. Thing that you little gingerbread man. You're supposed to work for me. I'm trying to move it forward more. Barb, I'm silly. I can't help it. Y'all bear with me. Ow. Ow. Okay, maybe it wasn't a good idea using that skewer because I have now successfully stabbed myself at least five times. Oh my goodness. Alright, we're going to have to rearrange all this stuffing. It might, I don't know if it would be easier to put the stuffing in after the feet maybe. I'm not sure. Let's see if he's going to hold now. Nope. He's not. He's not going to hold for me. Well, he may just end up being a gingerbread man that needs to lean up against the wall. Man, He may just not stand on his own. That's alright. Hopefully, he'll be cute nonetheless. I don't know. I warned you guys. I warned you. This might not work. Let's fix all his little stuffing. We don't want him to look like a lumpy gingerbread cookie. He had too much eggnog. I don't know y'all. It ain't. He's not wanting to balance. He don't like to stand on his own. Maybe the feet are too small. I don't know. But whatever. We're going to keep rocking and rolling. We're going to figure this out you guys. Figure it out somehow, some way. So, what I'm thinking is I want to cover up the dowel rods, okay? Cuz I think a little bit of that is going to show. So, I'm going to take some of my scrap pieces of felt here and I'm just going to make some cylinders or like maybe just a rectangle. Maybe I'll just do a rectangle Cut this in half. And I'm going to wrap it around my. So, let me just move this. That once we get all embellishments on this baby, he's going to be awfully cute, okay? We'll see. Um put some skis on him. Oh, that's cute. Okay. So, I'm going to wrap this around. My little dowel rod to cover it up and we're going to put some, y'all I forgot to put my hot glue gun back on my stand. What in the world am I thinking? Alright, so we're going to wrap that around. Let me move this so y'all can see and then I'm going to try. Is this going to be big enough? I don't think it's going to be big enough. Let me make something wider. I think we need it to be a little wider. Because I want it to be big enough that I can kind of wrap it and cover up all of that Styrofoam and glue on the top of our shoes. So, we're going to make it a little wider. I Okay. This should definitely work. We're bored. Yeah, we're we'll play with it and we'll see. We may have to I don't know. We may have to come up with something. Okay, this should work. I kind of wish I had done this beforehand because if I done it beforehand then I could just slide it over the top and put a little bit of stuffing in there and I could've turned it inside out so that it wouldn't show a seam. Um the shoes came from Dollar Tree, Connie. Dollar Tree. Alright, let's see if this is hot now. Okay. There we go. Glue that together. And then Imma turn it around and then I think I'm going to hot glue it to the top of the shoe. So, let's see. Let me stand him up and I'm going to put some hot glue just kind of around the top and then push this into the hot glue Y'all same idea though if you wanted to do a gnome instead of a gingerbread man. You could do sort of the same thing for a gnome. With the body, put a hat on him, you know, all that. Okay. I don't know y'all. I'm not sold on it yet. Uh I'm just going to trust the process. Trust the process, Kayla. We just gotta trust the process. Dowel rods coming out of this one. Margie, I could totally see that at this point. At this point, I could see that. Okay. Come on now. Stay in there. I was away from my tablet. So we did do that Crystal we put some kitty litter in the bottom of the shoes to try and give them a little bit more weight I'm trying to think of something else that you could put to give it more weight you know what you know what you could use possibly I wonder if you could use those little weights for fishing that you know you put on your line to weight it down Y'all bear with me. Bare with me, okay? I'm not so sure yet either but we're going to make it look cute. It's going to look cute in the end if we can just get it to a certain point. Trust the process. Um yeah, I don't know if like rocks would be heavier. I mean, I feel like that kitty litter is pretty heavy but you may need something a little on the heavier side even but it's gotta obviously be small because you don't have a lot of space to work with. Okay. Let's see here. Just cover up the top of our shoe Well, listen. I'm always your all's guinea pig, okay? I'm always the one to help y'all figure out what to do and what not to do, okay? Alright. So, now that I've got my legs in, I am going to seal up the bottom, okay? Uh my gingerbread man. So, I'm just going to take and just fold this bottom edge in a little bit okay and then I'm just going to put some hot glue around where I folded I'm going to do a little at a time y'all because I don't want to burn myself for one thing. Y'all bear with me. Thank you Laura for the stars. Despite this madness I have going on up in here. So, we wanted to be sealed in around our little legs. It's a good idea Marcella. Maybe create more of a base for him. That's a good idea. I think I just got some things delivered to me. Not sticking. Why are you not sticking? You're giving me a run for my money today. I knew it was not going to be easy y'all but I really wanted to try it anyways. Okay, I'm just going to sit and hold this. That's a good thought too, Jeanette. Have something kind of on its bottom to kind of add some weight. Yes, that could work as well. Check it out y'all. He's standing. Oh my goodness. Okay. Alright, y'all. I can't believe it. Maybe just gluing it together at the bottom is what did it but hey, he's working. Yay. Okay. So, I'm going to take his arms. I'm going to cut off this excess because I don't think I need that much. I'm going to just glue them right up here and we are going to be putting a scarf around the necks. So, I'm not concerned with that showing because we're going to cover it up with a scarf. I'm shocked. I'm shocked y'all that it stood. Uh oh. Uh oh. It doesn't like the arm. Let me move it more to the front. Let's see if that helps. Who knows if this thing will stand at the end of this or not? I don't know. Thank you, Louise. So far, not confident. Thank you all for celebrating. I wish this would go ahead and dry. So, I'm going to I cut this little top off, okay? And I'm going to glue the glue it together, the top together and then I'm going to go ahead and glue it on. Thank you, Debra for the stars. That's what I'm thinking, Cathy. He might end up being a leaner. Oh, that's a great idea, Michelle. Why didn't I think of that? I think it's going to, I think it's good though now. She said, just use a pen. No, it's not. I'm going to just stick a couple pins in there. We might just leave him be with them pins. I don't know. I'm going to make sure this other one's the same size before I cut it. Okay. Yeah, I'm thinking you guys are right. If you could maybe somehow put something the bottom of his body to give him some extra weight. Um I think that that might be the good ticket to make it work. I'm just I'm trying to think of things. I also think if you started with a base. So if you started with someone said a circle and I had kind of thought about that but I hadn't worked it out fully in my head. If you thought of if you got like a circle even like one of these little plaques something like this maybe and drill holes through it for this the exact size of your dowel rods to go up through and let this be like the base and then maybe put a bag of something on top of it stick it inside and then just put your fabric around it maybe I don't know I say for sure but it's just a thought. Just trying to come up with some other ideas for how this might work a little better. Here's how it's looking so far. Are we looking more like a gingerbread man yet? Um are we looking anymore like one? I don't know. I think we are though. I think the arms help a lot. I think that once we get it done, We might be okay. He's still not going to stand. I don't know that he's going to stand in the end. Just don't know if he's going to stand but alright y'all so His little bum needs a little bit of extra batting but it's okay. Okay. So, let's do a scarf. Um I don't know what I want to use yet for a scarf but I just really like this ribbon and so I might use it. Let me just see. I might do a chef's hat as well. Someone said a chef's hat. I do have the other half of the chef's hat that I used the other day and so we may end up doing that. I'm going to use this for sure for my scarf. Okay, so we're going to cover up these arms. So, this is just Hobby Lobby ribbon I got it this week was on sale 2 that's the on sale price it's 4 regular price alright so I'm going to just kind of wrap it around and then I'm going to hot glue it in place so that I'm able to cover up make sure it's covering up those arms I like that idea Theresa. That might work. So many ideas y'all. So many ideas. Seeing if I can't just. There we go. Maybe if I just push him down real good. I don't know. So, I'm really putting the hot glue on the arms to make sure it's covers the top of those arms, okay? And then, I think I'm going to put a little hot glue to make sure that the scarf stays in place. Just a little bit of tacking here and there. I have some Rick Rack. We're definitely going to use some Rick Rack. Let's do that next. So, I'm going to leave the scarf the way it is for now. Um and then we can I can trim it later if I need to. So, I'm thinking I'm going to use a regular size Rick Rack. I do have the jumbo. Let's just play with it. Let's see what we like better. I've got both sizes. See here this is showing. Let me fix this. Yeah, I may work on the bottom. Um for now, I'm just going to keep rolling with it because this is going to be a long live anyways y'all. I've already been on for over an hour. Um I don't I'll I'll mess with it and then when I post a picture, I'll let you know how it turned out. So, let's see here. How we want to do it. Do we want to do the regular rick rack? I think I'm going to do the regular rick rack. I don't think I want to do the jumbo. Let me look at the jumbo. I might be changing my mind just like that. Okay. I think I'll do the jumbo. I think I'll just go with the jumbo. Okay. I do I do like the jumbo. Okay. So, I'm just going to start up here at the top. Imma put a little hot glue up under the scarf and stick the top of the rick rack up under there. Now, with the rick rack, I'm going to try to really perfect the shape of the Gingerbread Man. So, we're just going to go in and we're going to put it just sort of all around the body. Y'all I really do think it's going to turn out cute. It's been a rocky it's been a rocky road but I do think it's going to turn out cute. He or she, whatever we want it to be. It's going to be a she probably because it's probably going to have a bow. Look at that. It's turning out cute y'all. Had a feeling the embellishments. We're going to make it happen. Sometimes, you just gotta step outside your comfort zone and go for it. Thank you, Darlene. Alright, let me cut off the excess and I'm just going to stick it right up under this scarf. And then we'll do the head. Look at that you guys. Look how cute it's looking. Um the Ryobi glue gun Laura, it came from Home Depot. Home Depot is where it came. So, just use that scarf to kind of hide all of your little imperfections, all the ends and things. I'm trying to make sure my rick rack is you know, kind of creating a nice round shape at the top as best as I can. Oh wow, Cathy. That's a great deal. I should pick some up for my husband. He's kind of obsessed with the batteries. He just collects them. Okay. Stick this underneath our scarf. We are starting to take shape. Starting to take some shape y'all. So cute. Okay. So, I just want to try. I've got the other half of my chef hat that we use to make our Gingerbread Man hanger or door hanger. So, I just want to see if I can make this work. Um it's not going to go all the way around of course but look y'all. Isn't that cute? Okay. So, I'm going to put some hot glue. So, this chef hat is a children's chef hat. It came from Hobby Lobby in the apparel section where the it was right above the bandanas in my Hobby Lobby and it's children's hat. It was 299 regular price. It was not on sale. I'm going to put some hot glue on the base. And I'm going to put it at an angle and I'm just going to wrap around, okay? Now, this is the other half and there is some Velcro on here. So, we're just going to put a bow on it. We'll just hide that somehow Just making sure it's good and adhered and then we'll fix the top. So, for the top, I'm just going to sort of gather it up and glue it to the back, okay? So, I'm just just sort of gathering it and I'm just going to glue it. Down. You could also stuff it if you wanted to. We know I'm a little bit low on stuffing but I think it'll be cute for it to just be sort of you know, empty and That's the way it usually is if you put it on your head. Really, Rosie? I've never seen a chef had a Dollar Tree, I don't think but it could possibly be in the children's section. You know what? I think you might be right. I think I have seen it now that I'm thinking about it in the in the children's section. Okay. This is turning out absolutely adorable. I am so happy with how this is turning out despite our struggles, okay? Um I'll see if I can make her stand up later. So, let's do eyes, nose, mouth, all those things. I just have to decide what I want to do. Um what I want to do. Y'all let me see. I'm trying to remember the way the Hobby Lobby one looked. I think it had a red pom pom for the nose. I think that's what the nose was. I think it was a little red pom pom for the nose. Oh oh I know what. Let's do this. Let's do this. Um so, for the buttons, I'm going to take some round circles and a napkin from Hobby Lobby. And we're going to make little peppermint swirl little peppermint swirl buttons. That's right, Shelly. Sometimes you just gotta go for it. Well, that was easy. The backing just came off for me. Super simple. How about that? Alright, I'm going to paint these white so we have an opaque background. So, these little round pieces of wood, they came from Dollar Tree, believe it or not but I've yet to see them again and they were just like little bags of scrap pieces but you can get something like this at Hobby Lobby. Okay, let me dry these real quick. Okay, that should be good enough. Okay. So, I'm going to take my candy cane napkin or not candy cane, peppermint napkins from Hobby Lobby and my Mod Podge We're going to do a very thin layer of Mod Podge on them. And then we're going to just glue them to our napkins on the middle Okay. I got the felt at Joanne's. The felt came from Joanne's and I got it recently but that's something that they always have. Okay. So, just try to center it onto your napkin. Let me pull this so y'all can see. And then I'm just pressing it down So then I'm just going to gently rub Okay. Sand off the excess all the way around and we'll have our little buttons. I'm getting pretty excited. It's all the details that sure do bring something to life. Look at that. Perfect. I'm thankful to have found these napkins. And y'all I didn't really have to buy anything specifically for this. I already had it. Um if you had to buy all the things, it may not be it may not be as economical. Um for me, I already had all of these things but now, if you had to buy the felt and the rick rack and the ribbon and the hat and the shoes and all of that, you may and up being about $15, which the gingerbread man that I saw at Hobby Lobby I don't know if it's going to be as cute as this one. I'm just saying but it was fifteen dollars, okay? It was 2999 regular price. Hi, Mary. So, let me show you what we're making. We're working on a gingerbread man. Look how cute now. It's not freestanding like I want it to be. I've got to work on that but we'll see if I can get it there. Anyways, it is turning out so dang cute. I'm loving it. Alright, I'm just warming up my iron because I'm going to iron this out just to make it a little smoother. So, I just take some parchment paper and my iron onto my napkins smooth em out. Okay. So, these are going to be our buttons. For our gingerbread man. Holy moly. Alright. So, let's do three buttons. Okay. I think I'm going to cut my scarf a little. Imma make em a little bit uneven I think and thinking about if I want to put something on the end. I think I'm just going to make slits in the ribbon. To give it that fringe look. Okay, there we go. Okay. So, here's what it's looking like so far. Now, we've got to do the face. How cute is that? I'm just saying. It's super duper cute. I'm loving it. Okay. Eyes. Eyes, eyes, eyes. I wonder about No, ma'am. Don't like that. Um Let's see. What about this size. Painted black. Um that might work. Let me see the smaller size. These are just little round pieces of wood y'all. Just some round pieces of wood. Okay, I think those are definitely too small. So, I'm thinking these larger ones. We're going to paint these black. Let's grab the black. Yes, definitely Tracy. I think that would be adorable. Um So, we will do that. Y'all, I hope I'm not out. I'm out of. Hang on y'all. I'm digging a paper towel out of the You know, I'm not crazy about the buttons for eyes. Um I don't know why. Let's we'll look at it. But something about the holes in the eyes, I just don't care for it too much. Here's what it looks like. I'm just not super crazy about it for some reason. Let let's just try my little wooden discs and see. That's a good idea, Joyce. So, I'm going to use these little round pieces of wood. And I'm just going to paint these black We did Jeannie. Um we did. It's been a process and it's taken a while y'all. Taking a while. We are in this now. How many minutes have we been doing this? Quite some time. Uh I'm gluing these to my mat so that I can draw them. We've been doing this now for like over an hour. Um maybe even like an hour and a half. These little smaller wooden discs are They came from Dollar Tree a long time ago. I've just kept them around. I use them for different things here and there. Just use em here and there. Okay. Let's see here. Alright, I'm going to just put em on there and we're going to keep on going. So, like I said, the one that I saw at Hobby Lobby had a little pom pom for the nose. Someone suggested a little bit of Rick Rack for the mouth. I might end up painting the mouth and the eyes on. I'm not really sure yet. I kind of want to look up a picture of one of these and see what they did. I have struggle so hard with just doing it myself. I'm thinking about painting it on y'all. I'm thinking about painting it on. Um just a minute. Just let me, I just need to search really quick. Let's search for Hang on y'all. What in the world? Oh, let's see. Here we are. Okay, here we are. Okay. Oh, I see what this one has is smaller eyes. So, see, I looked at these and I thought they looked too small. But they may not be too small. This is like very similar to what is in the picture of the Gingerbread Man at Hobby Lobby that I am using as my inspiration. So, let's just see here. Oh gosh. Uh I'm not I'm I can't do that y'all. That was too much. Um that was too much but I tell you what, what the other one has is It's got just a simple little mouth that goes up to little peppermint cheeks. Little peppermint cheeks y'all. So, what if we used the smaller ones and we did peppermints and we'll just paint on a mouth I wonder about painting my these for wonder if I painted those. Let's just I'm just painting some things for options y'all. We're just painting some things. These little buffalo plaid beads. They're a little half wood beads. So, I'm wondering about those. So, there's a little bit more dimension Let's see. Okay, let me draw these things real quick. Okay and then just see here. They need a second coat but I think I like that. I think I like those. So, I'm going to give em a second coat. Okay, y'all. Bare with me here as I figure all this out. Okay. Let's let those dry. I'm going to do make these little pieces into peppermints. Do a mouth like I did on the last gingerbread man. The only thing that worries me about that is how's it going to look with the paint? I don't know. We might give it a try. Yes, Tracy. We're going to use a little red pom pom for the nose that I just dropped on the floor. Y'all the backing just keeps coming right off for me. Okay. Alright. So, napkins are from Dollar Tree. I'm sorry, not Dollar Tree, Hobby Lobby. Napkins are from Hobby Lobby. Alright, let's see. Let's do a little Mod Podge. Just a little Okay. These on. Y'all I had tried to previously paint something on these. Not very cute. Just saying. Okay. All going to come together here in a second. Okay. So, we're going to do these for the cheeks, okay? These for the eyes. Alright. A little red pom pom for the nose. Okay and then think I'm going to do alright let's go I'm going to go ahead and glue this on okay and then we'll get the paint out and we'll make the mouth So, The napkins come from Hobby Lobby. And I believe I've seen those there every year you guys. Um I don't know it's for sure. I know some people have said they haven't been able to find them. Okay. Now, I'm going to get out my thin marker or thin brush y'all. I just never speak right when I'm on these lives. It just never comes out bright. Alright. Thin little brush. So this little brush here comes from Dollar Tree y'all and I love it. Okay, we're going to make we're going to paint the mouth on. Okay, here we go. I am just going to freehand his little mouth. With this little bitty brush. Her. I'm saying his but it is hers. Her mouth. Okay. So, we're going to just fill in the bottom a bit eyelashes would be cute. Y'all we could just go all day. On dressing her up. I think that's good. What do you all think? Is that looking good? So then, if we did our little peppermint cheeks, I think that's pretty cute. Alright, let me draw this. As best we can being on fabric. I'm going to go ahead and hot glue my little peppermints onto her cheeks Look y'all. How cute. Okay. I don't think I'm going to do eyelashes just because I'm scared to. Um it has come a long way, Kelly. Okay. So, let's do, we talked about doing some rick rack on the arms. Um do I, I think I'm just going to go. Yeah, I think I'm just going to wrap it around the arms like this. Thank you, Lina for the stars. Get fake lashes. Okay. There's that arm. That looks adorable. Y'all, I am so excited about this. Okay. Let's do the other side. Almost done. Okay. So, I think what we need, we're almost there. Is she needs something on her hat and another thing that we could do is put something in her hand so like maybe a could maybe do a candy cane or something like that and have her sort of like holding something. I think that would be really cute maybe like this hand but not sure what that's going to be just yet, okay? Not sure what it's going to be. We are going to do something to the top of our hat though, okay? Um I feel like it needs a bow. I just feel like it needs a bow. So, let's see. I might I don't want to do that because I already got the other plaid. Maybe just maybe just this red Let me just this red ribbon. Let's see. Oh, a wooden spoon. That would be cute. I was thinking a candy cane or like a a lollipop, something like that for her to hold. So, let's see. I'm just going to make regular old bow here. I might just go take something off my tree honestly and put it in her hand. Red rick rack on her hat. Someone said, okay, I like that. Well, let's try that. Let me get my little bow fixed here. Let's see. Trim off the excess. Yes, some holly leaves and some berries. That would be cute. Y'all I mean there are so many options. So many options of things that you could do. I do like the bow. I definitely want it to be defined as a girl. Um which is why I'm going to do the bow on the top. Okay? But let's get the Rick Rack. Let's see if we need it or if it's going to be too much. I have two different sizes. I've got jumbo and then I have this mini. So, let's start with the jumbo and see if we like it or not. And y'all I'm sorry. She's a little big. She's a little tall. Okay, I don't like the big Rick Rack especially with the bow. Now, the little, the mini might be cute. I think I might like the mini. So, we'll do that just right here on the seam at the bottom. So, I'm just going to put a little bit of hot glue just right on that seam there. And since my it's since it doesn't go all the way around my hat, I'm just going to stop it at the end of the hat. This gingerbread man is not to be looked at from behind, okay? It's business in the front and party in the back with this one, alright? So, we're not supposed to look at the behind. He needs to be leaning up against the wall, up against your tree, something like that. Okay. Alright, y'all. Let's see. Let me grab my bow. An apron, that would be cute. I mean, you guys have, you could have so much fun with this craft because there are just so many things you could do. We need to come up with a better way to do the base but other than that, I think that there is just so much that you could do with this. I'm still trying to decide if I like the bow. I maybe like talking. I I like it but then again, I don't like it. Maybe let me make the tails a little shorter and let me actually Let's do this. Okay, I think that's better. I just cut the tail shorter. I'm going to put the bow on. Because I want to kind of hide that where I had the Velcro where we cut this gingerbread or this chef hat in half Oh my goodness. Okay, I am thrilled with how this little thing turned out. Now, I still have got to figure out how to make her stand up. The funny thing is she's leaning backwards. You would think that she would lean forwards because there's you know, weight on the front but instead it's leaning backwards. So, I don't know. Oh, nobody move nobody move she is standing Sarah the boots came from Dollar Tree y'all look at this I am in love in love so let me just recap I'm going to call it quits on her right now okay I'm calling it quits she looks awesome she's falling I mean you know she can only stand up for so long Anyways, so she we made all of this, okay? Everything we made you guys. So, her body is made from felt from Joanne's and we stuffed it, okay? Um we stuffed it and just cut it out. Y'all, there was no sewing involved in this craft. I don't sew. So, there was zero sewing, none and we just made all the little pieces y'all. You have to watch the replay if you have not seen it. Um Shelly. Um if you have not seen all of it, you need to watch the replay because this was a rough start y'all. Somebody said it looked like a chicken leg. Um somebody said, I mean, there were several different things. It was not coming together very smoothly but it did turn out cute in the end. I love love it. So, I am going to work on the bottom and I'm going to see if I can't put something in there to make her stand up easier and I will be sure to share the details when I post a picture of her. Also, I might steal something from my tree to put in her hand and kind of just put her hand like right here where she's holding something. So, we'll see but even if I don't, I think she looks adorable just as she is. So, thank you guys so much for watching y'all. This was fun. I really enjoyed this craft. I love how we were so rocky there for a little while. So, thank you to all of you who stood with me even through the chicken leg that this might have looked like. Anyways, I love you guys so much. I hope you all enjoy this craft and I will see you all later, later today, okay? See ya. Bye.
