The mediating effect of green absorptive capacity (GAC) and moderating role of environmental turbulence were also explored.Design/methodology/approachStructural equation modeling was utilized for hypotheses testing of a survey data set of 387 at healthcare organizations operating in Iraq. The data were collected using purposive sampling with expert judgment from senior managers and professionals.FindingsContrary to previous studies, the findings showed that only green human and relational capitals predict green performance and only green human capital predicted economic performance. Studies on performance expectations gaps is sparse and incomplete, and yet it is becoming an incr... more Studies on performance expectations gaps is sparse and incomplete, and yet it is becoming an increasing concern in public procurement. This study borrowed the concept of expectations gap from auditing, accounting and focused on ‘how do the different stakeholders with different needs, interests and expectations, perceive and interpret the procurement performance expectations gap (PPEG) in roadworks contracts’. Thirty-three key informants in two categories of ‘technical personnel’ and ‘road users’ were selected using purposive sampling from the four regions of Uganda. Semi-structured interview guides were used to gain insight into understanding PPEG, and data was subjected to rigorous statistical analysis using ATLAS.ti version 22 software. Respondents understood PPEG to mean general lapse of procurement performance failure punctuated with growing levels of performance dissatisfaction, narrowness of the community access roads, delayed completion of road network and inconsistency in the quality of completed works, with three emerging themes: 1) laxity in performance efficiency; 2) laxity in performance effectiveness; 3) low level of community satisfaction. The implications of this study shows that whereas the technical personnel’s perception that the road user’s opinions might be grossly wrong, they must be respected in order to have a holistic community roadworks acceptance and support.

Having no clear role, specialisation affects service timeliness and increases resource duplication among the relief organisations. The objective of this study is to understand how organisational networks and organisational learning as complex adaptive system metaphors improve both organisational adaptability and role clarity in humanitarian logistics. The study investigates the key determinants of brand loyalty in full service restaurants in Ugand... more The study investigates the key determinants of brand loyalty in full service restaurants in Uganda. The study used a quantitative research approach and adopted a cross sectional correlation survey design to test the study hypotheses. A total of 348 completed questionnaires collected from 116 restaurants were used in the analysis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to propose a model that examines the key determinants of brand loyalty in full service restaurants in Uganda. The findings from the study revealed that dining experience and restaurant image were significant predictors of brand loyalty in full service restaurants in Uganda and customer satisfaction was not a significant predictor of guest loyalty. Despite its managerial implications, several limitations of the study call for further empirical enquiry.

A questionnaire assessing the experience of organisational future orientation, inter-organisational interaction quality, inter-organisational group mechanism and inter-organisational communication was administered to 101 out of 136 humanitarian organisations delivering social services to refugee settlements in Uganda. This paper is based on a study that examined the relationship between the firms’ capabilities, en... more This paper is based on a study that examined the relationship between the firms’ capabilities, entrepreneurial competency and performance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Uganda. The study used stratified random sampling to derive a sample of 314 SMEs and a cross-sectional research design. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaires that were filled out by firm owners and managers as units of enquiry whereas a firm was the unit of analysis. The study findings indicate that an increase in the level of a firm’s capabilities through competent management, market linkages and marketing capabilities leads to enhanced SME performance. As entrepreneurial competences and firm capabilities predict 30.4 percent of the variance in SME performance, SME owners and managers, through their entrepreneurial competences, can use firm capabilities as tools to influence their firms’ operations to enhance their performance. A fair amount of work has been done in the area of adoption across different fields of study in view of the antecedents of New Product Adoption but with minimal emphasis on the measures of adoption. The researchers adopted a cross sectional descriptive research design to measure new product adoption using beverage manufacturers and consumers in Uganda. The study used a sample of 210 beverage manufacturing organizations looking at both marketing staff and customers of those organizations as the unit of enquiry. This paper aims at establishing the effect of ethical work climate on ethical attitudes of procur... more This paper aims at establishing the effect of ethical work climate on ethical attitudes of procurement officers working in Ugandan public entities. A cross-section research design was employed and primary data were collected from 89 government organizations. A sample of 198 procurement officers was drawn from the population of 393 procurement officers. A total of 190 usable questionnaires were returned, giving a 95 percent response rate. Findings from this study indicated a significant positive relationship between ethical work climate and ethical attitudes. Being a crosssectional study by its nature, subject to common method variances, a replication of the study using a longitudinal approach is recommended. This should be supplemented with more interviews from a crosssection of procurement officers in these organizations to tap salient issues from respondents.
