Enhancing the quality of the workpiece and reducing the cost to produce it is only possible by the optimization of process parameters, namely, cutting speed, feedrate, and depth of cut. Amount of tool wear can be minimized and the roughness of the surface can be enhanced by the optimization of process parameters. In this study, St 33 and St 52 steel samples were turned for 15 minutes on a CNC lathe using K20 sintered carbide inserts at predetermined process parameters, cutting speed, feedrate, and depth of cut. The data obtained from the experiments was analyzed using Taguchi Method and Pareto ANOVA to obtain optimal process parameters. The values obtained after the analyses were tested on turning three more samples to verify the integrity of the results. By the optimization of CNC process parameters, considerable amount of refinements were obtained for both tool wear and surfa...

Gravity die cast stainless steel samples were stir welded at three different welding speeds, pre-calculated theoretically as 350, 450, and 550 rpm, with a 50-mm/min feedrate. Mechanical properties were determined by tensile tests and microhardness measurements applied on the specimens taken from the welding zones. SEM and EDS studies were performed to examine the microstructural changes and the formed phases in the weldments. As a result, FSW process was seen to be a suitable joining technique that could be applied safely for these kinds of materials. The four zones formed after the welding operation were seen to be reasonable for a sound joint.

Currently, the industry has all the prerequisites for the development and introduction of new technologies, modernization, implementation of scientific and technological research and development for the purpose of technological upgrading of industry. In the present conditions, as a key condition for the survival and the success of a growing competitive environment the ability to develop and implement an effective innovation policy based on scientific, technical and resource potential, private financial and material resources are required from the industrial enterprises. For the current stage of economic development is characterized by processes that require the adoption of a large number of innovative solutions [1].
ABSTRACT In this work, Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2Ca2−xSmxCu3Oy (x = 0.0000, 0.0005, 0.0010, 0.0050, 0.0100, 0.... more ABSTRACT In this work, Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2Ca2−xSmxCu3Oy (x = 0.0000, 0.0005, 0.0010, 0.0050, 0.0100, 0.1000, 0.5000, 1.0000, 1.5000) superconductors were prepared by conventional solid-state reaction method. The effect of the substitution of Sm for Ca in the high-Tc phase Bi-2223 was investigated by DTA, thermal expansion coefficient, Vickers microhardness, XRD and SEM analysis. The lattice constants and volume fractions are estimated from XRD analysis. The thermal expansion coefficient, the microhardness, the volume fraction, and the lattice constants strongly depend on the Sm content of the samples. XRD data show that the high-Tc phase decreases and the low-Tc phase increase as the Sm substitution changes from x = 0.0–1.5. The coefficients of thermal expansion (in the range of 30–800 °C) of the pure (x = 0.0) and high doped (x = 1.5) samples were 7.90 × 10−7 and 5.70 × 10−7 °C−1, respectively. The results of Vickers hardness measurements varied between 0.254 and 0.623 GPa as increasing the Sm concentration.

The samples are prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction method in the polycrystalline bulk form. Doping of Bi-2223 was carried out by means of gold diffusion during sintering from an evaporated gold film on

First, calculations of the ideal strength are presented, beginning with calculations of the ideal shear strength of aluminum and copper, which are both ductile fcc metals. The ideal shear strength of tungsten is then investigated. Tungsten has the interesting property that dislocations are active on several slip systems. A study of the ideal shear and tensile strength of molybdenum and niobium is then presented, which provides ...
