Simple rename requests

Leee@global

@Accents: Leee is already a global account and has over 600 edits on the Hebrew Wikipedia so we can't usurp it if I understood your request correctly. --Stryn (talk) 09:03, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

The extremely high number of edits + log entries on tawiktionary makes me a little nervous (around 200k entries), but that should still work out without major pains. Please make sure I'm around and informed once this rename gets started. - Hoo man (talk) 13:24, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

Adriano Morelli@global

The global account is taken, and as such we won't be having the account usurped, especially due to the account Wolverine. If you wish to have a new username, by preference it should be an unused account.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:35, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
Actually it's sad that active users can't change their nicknames to good variants because of using them by people who create accounts for contributing 10-20 edits... Just thinking out loud. Thank you anyway for information. I'll return here through some time with another idea because I do not really like my current username. --Adriano Morelli (talk) 14:38, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

You have been allocated the global account by the formula determined by Wikimedia. Are you sure that you wish for this account to be moved?  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:02, 28 March 2015 (UTC)`
Hi, I am en:User:Spike. Just to give full information: The reason that pl:User:Spike/pl:User:Spike78 is requesting this name change is because I had sent him an e-mail where I had asked him for the name change so that I could take over the global account "Spike" and he had graciously accepted. User Spike (talk) 15:22, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Done - Spike78 has another pl.wiki account "Grzegorz "Spike" Rendchen". There is no easy solution. It has been 3 weeks and by now the SUL finalisation will hinder the en.wiki Spike. I have renamed as was requested. Other name changes can always be requested in the future. All the best, Taketa (talk) 08:02, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

@Eluveitie: your account is already a global account. I guess "Eluveitie" on enwiki doesn't belong to you, right? Then it (enwiki account) will be renamed soon to another name, and after it you can use your account there also. Or do you just want to change your username anyway? --Stryn (talk) 17:04, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
Hi @Stryn:, no Eluveitie on en:wiki is not my account, but it's clearly abandoned by someone 7 years ago. Is there any way around this? I don't mind name as long as I can switch between projects and have them somehow connected. What do you suggest? --Eluveitie (talk) 18:50, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

Kirishima@global

The global account is about 6 years old, and there are edits crosswiki, I do not think that this account should be deleted for an usurping. If you can identify and confirm each of the unattached accounts then we can move them to a name where they can be merged prior to the full globalisation.  — billinghurst sDrewth 23:40, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

Gnome@kawiki

All unattached accounts will be renamed during the SUL finalization. Please, just wait. Ruslik (talk) 17:58, 15 April 2015 (UTC)
to make explicit what was implicit in the previous answer. You hold the SUL account for Gnome and will continue to hold that after full globalisation, where the unattached accounts will be renamed, thus allowing you to have the Gnome username on all wikis. I have added a task to merge Gghonghadze to Gnome which we can undertake after the globalisation process to unite those accounts. With regard to uploading images, is that at Commons or enWP? The upload ability comes with autoconfirmed accounts which comes with time, or by having someone push the right, please confirm on my meta user talk page where you would like that right granted.
merge to take place following globalisation when unattached accounts are moved.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:04, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Banjo@global (Usurp. request)

Done for all 0-edit accounts,   On hold for commons, cswiki, nlwiki and dawiki until the 7th April, where the users have been informed that they would be usurped in a month. The accounts on nowiki and itwiki have >100 edits, and though they have been informed of approaching finalisation and given the possibility to request a rename, they should not be usurped IMO (or else, they should be informed they will be usurped with a deadline). Savhñ 10:33, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Comment Excuse me, but when these local accounts were renamed, shouldn't all links to their userpages have been updated accordingly? (as in here) If they still point to the old username (which now belongs to the "global" account), things may get really confusing for anyone unaware of the changes. --Capmo (talk) 20:32, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
No, global renaming has no affect to links for userpages. Related discussion is at User_talk:Keegan_(WMF)#Renamed_accounts_on_Commons_and_broken_image_attribution. --Stryn (talk) 20:50, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

Carcharoth (Commons)@commons

Hi Carcharoth, I have removed the "Carcharoth" commons account (0 edits) from the "Carcharoth" global account and renamed it to "Carcharoth (renamed)". I have deleted the "Carcharoth (Commons)" global account (1 account with edits) and renamed the "Carcharoth (Commons)" commons account to "Carcharoth". All you have to do now is attach the commons account to your "Carcharoth" global account in the usual way. Simply confirm it is you by using your commons password. See commons:Special:MergeAccount. All the best, Taketa (talk) 04:35, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
That is great! I had thought that the merge tool would be needed. It seems not. I knew it would help to set the two passwords to be the same before requesting this. It all seems to have worked perfectly. I now get "Login unification complete!" and all seems to be working fine. I do want at some point to put a notice on my userpage about when this transition occurred, as the Commons uploads prior to this date by either account may have been used (and credited) externally, so hopefully that will avoid any possible confusion. Many thanks to you and the other stewards (and those at the WMF who are managing this) for all your work on this. Carcharoth (talk) 01:02, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

Psychedelia@global

@Psychedelia: You should request the moving the account from ruWP to this account name. I doubt that we will look to resolve poet@global, it looks problematic. To get the move done, we will need for you to login to your account there and confirm that you wish for it to be merged, and to where.  — billinghurst sDrewth 06:32, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

Pikachu@global

What accounts at other projects do belong to you? Ruslik (talk) 07:36, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
None of the other "Pikachu" accounts belong to me. Enwiki only. 2605:A601:557:C201:69BF:97F9:596D:9546 17:22, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Comment I don't think that this account should take precedence. Pumping up an edit account after the criteria has been made available should not be the determinator. Two years of not editing is not particularly inactive, and the counts of the other accounts of this username that are of a similar condition. I suggest that you choose another name for your account.  — billinghurst sDrewth 04:34, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
Had a warning been issued to me, via e-mail or talkpage, before the "too late, you're going to be renamed" message, I would've taken care of the issue then. Since I have always only dealt with Enwiki, I never saw any of the posts on meta (and, in fact, can't even log into meta) to know that the rename was imminent. The criteria being made available wasn't really all that available. When an account has been on the brink of usurpation in the past, a notice would be put on the target account's talkpage while there was still an opportunity to do something about it. With this, no notice was given until it was too late. I did what I could immediately after direct notice was given, and I am hoping that I am doing sufficient to warrant the "override on a case-by-case basis." 65.121.182.3 16:48, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
There has been much information available across and internal to wikis, eg. Wikipedia Signpost, Wikimedia Blogs, etc., and for a couple of years and it is unfortunate that you have not seen or heeded what has been available. I still see no special criteria that you have introduced that should change the basis of the current decision.  — billinghurst sDrewth 01:21, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
Not done per above explanation.  — billinghurst sDrewth 03:18, 26 April 2015 (UTC)

SuperBisco@global, ex [email protected] and other projects

Please, confirm that you own Bisco account. Ruslik (talk) 14:20, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
To undertake this you will need to login and edit on those accounts. Providing the diff for the edits is worthwhile.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:32, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

"Tharon" is not available. Please choose another username. --Stryn (talk) 18:51, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
He needs the usurpation of the new account because the new nick is already used. --The Polish (talk) 19:54, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
We don't usurp global accounts. He should choose a username that is available. --Stryn (talk) 19:57, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
And if he first will ask to usurp locally on enwiki the new account and then ask to merge both accounts (global and enwiki)? Is it possible? --The Polish (talk) 20:06, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
This user has made three editions (in 2006, 2009 and 2010). There is not even your hand. --KamilQue (talk) 12:12, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
Username is taken, if it is ever made available, it would be available. When you have chosen an available target account, please make a request at special:GlobalRenameRequest or back here.  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:50, 26 April 2015 (UTC)

Salv@enwiki

"Ping" is not a valid reason to usurp any accounts. "Salv" is a global account with 5 edits on nowikinews while "Salv~enwiki" had just 2 edits (both talk page edits). --Stryn (talk) 05:12, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
"Salv" on nowikn is an account that has been used 5 days 7 years ago and never since. "Salv" on enwiki is an account that currently is of use to the active admin who owns it. What I'm saying (and what I've been saying well before this SUL unification wave came to pass) is that by every conceivable angle of common sense, I should be authorized to own the SUL because I want it an I use it. There is no reason to lock the SUL to a nowikn user who is long gone and won't see any use of it. Or are you implying that if I started using "Salv" on enwiki as an actual alt account, with more edits, you would consider the usurpation request more "valid"? That sounds quite silly, no? How would you describe a "valid reason to usurp an account"? Salvidrim! 05:17, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
There exists significant existing discussion on meta about "global usurpation", and while the currently established text states that requests are judged on a case-by-case basis by Stewards (and Global Renamers, I guess), one of the usurpation conditions that seems to have garnered the most support here is "The account has under ten edits, and the last edit is from over three years ago." This is applicable to the present situation -- 5 edits 7 years ago. I think the most recent agreement amongst meta users is that I should be allowed to request this usurp successfully. Salvidrim! 05:22, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
  • Request unarchived, still pending a reply from the Stewards team regarding global usurp request that should be granted (less than 10 edits / older than 3 years). Salvidrim! 19:29, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
There was a reply, and it isn't going to happen. You have an account name, and you don't get someone else's just so you get it as a redirect. The number and age of the edits are not particularly pertinent. There are imperfections in having to fit into the reality of the how account names have been resolved.  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:41, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
And yet the proposed "global usurpation" policy (at the least the part of it with the most support) would clearly authorize this type of usurpation. There would be literally no harm to it since whoever was behind the Salv~nowikn account is clearly long gone. I guess the only thing I can do at this point is wait until you Stewards have made the "global usurpation" policy official and request it again at that time. I understand that you would've probably liked, as many users would've, to finalze said policy before the WMF pushed ahead and rolled out the "SUL unification" process, but we have to work with what we have now. Thanks you both for your time, and we'll meet again once policy is agreed upon. :) Salvidrim! 02:46, 26 April 2015 (UTC)

Boudewijn@global

If you hold all of the other accounts, then I am inclined to process this request. However, would you consider selecting a different name to make it easier on everyone :)? Ajraddatz (talk) 06:29, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
The other Bouwdewijn (commons, dewp) has been inactive for 8 years and was only active for 2 days. They also have less edits in total. I think we should give the global account to this Boudewijn (enwp, nlwp, enwn, enwk, nlwk). I suggest switching the global account choice (deleting the global account) and warning the other user of the coming SUL finalisation. Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 07:05, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
@Ajraddatz: I understand that each request adds a manual burden on a complex project, and have considered selecting another user name. I also considered the active time of the other account: as Takata points out: it was only active on two dates (less than sixty minutes, crossing from one to the next date at midnight). Thank you for your time on this. @Takata: thanks :-)
addition for clarity: I would still like to retain Boudewijn as user name :-)

Comment Thought about leaving a note on the user's talk page at Commons asking them their opinion, to even see if they are around?  — billinghurst sDrewth 09:32, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
Comment Hi Billinghurst, thanks for the suggestion! I did so at: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Boudewijn#request_to_.22usurp.22_your_username_.2F_verzoek_om_je_gebruikersnaam_over_te_nemen 2001:982:1768:1:225:90FF:FE37:B6F8 21:43, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
Comment So far, the user from the commons-account has not contacted me. I do not see any activity on his part either. How long is a "nice" period to wait? Best regards, 2001:982:1768:1:225:90FF:FE37:B6F8 21:15, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
@Boudewijn~enwiki: I have moved the blocking account, please request one of your accounts to be moved into place, and then we can adapt this request to merge the others. Please ping me when you have done this.  — billinghurst sDrewth 03:24, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
@Billinghurst: Thanks for your trouble. I think I misunderstood the next step. I followed the (non existing) link to user Boudewijn~enwiki on meta, and created the account I am now logged in with to write something about a request. Had second thoughts and wrote the request on my new user (user:Boudewijn) page on meta, instead of the other page. Now I come back here, I read your text again and I have no clue what I actually should have done. I read "request one of your accounts to be moved into place" as: "make sure you have a Boudewijn-account". Is that correct? How can I help to make the merge as easy as possible for you (or someone else)? Boudewijn (talk) 19:46, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
Apologies if that didn't make sense to you. We need to you to confirm that each of those accounts is yours, and the best/easiest way to do that is to have you login with each account, and state that they are to be merged to the parent account. We can merge them into place into this target account when the tool is available.  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:56, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
Ah, sorry for failing to recognize that. I am underway to add verification strings to each of the user-pages. I'll ping back when I'm done. I read the merge tool is still in the making. Thanks so far! Boudewijn (talk) 21:48, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
