edit- @Romaine: Could you please provide a list of the specific languages that will be targeted? "Multiple" is ambiguous. --Yair rand (talk) 04:36, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
- Like every year, all languages will be targeted in the countries where the contest is organised, a list of available translations can be found here: c:Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2019/CentralNotice#Text_of_CentralNotice. Romaine (talk) 04:49, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
Hi @Yair rand and Seddon: I don't know yet how this campaign system exactly works, until know we were doing Central Notices on Slovak Wikipedia with local Central Notice which is not shown on mobile devices and is not consistent with the modern design. I would like to change how we do them and start with these "campaigns". Regarding WLM, we would like to have Central Notice from 1 September to 30 September 2019 as stated here but I would like to "order" some specific details to be sure of the right text and logo (the list with translations was created in the past and not updated since then, at least for Slovak). The text for the notice should be "Wiki miluje pamiatky: Odfoťte pamiatku, pomôžte Wikipédii a vyhrajte!", Central Notice should link to sk:Wikipédia:Wiki miluje pamiatky and there should be Slovak logo of the contest. If the image is too tall, you can use the international version without text. Thanks, --Luky001 (talk) 13:05, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Luky001: Link is used, modified text implemented, logo is indeed too tall. Romaine (talk) 20:43, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Romaine: Hi, from what I see now, there is the old text... I highligted the difference which should be there: "Wiki miluje pamiatky: Odfoťte pamiatku, pomôžte Wikipédii a vyhrajte!" --Luky001 (talk) 22:35, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Luky001: I am not sure what has gone wrong with the text, but I fixed it now. Romaine (talk) 22:50, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Romaine: Perfect! Thanks, --Luky001 (talk) 22:57, 31 August 2019 (UTC)

@Romaine: I noticed that banner is shown also on Czech Wikipedia (cs.wikipedia.org) and although in Czech, it links to Slovak competition project page (since the Czech Republic is not participating this year). I would like to ask if you could turn it off for Czech Wikipedia so we don't create confusion. It may happen that Czech users would upload monuments from the Czech Republic to Slovak contest which doesn't accept any other monuments than from Slovakia. It also doesn't make sense to promote something they cannot take part in. Thanks, --Luky001 (talk) 16:10, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Luky001, hi! Thank you for informing me. The CentralNotice system works much differently than the Sitenotice system. A sitenotice is shown only on one singular wiki, but with the CentralNotice it is not possible to target a single Wikipedia. The CentralNotice targets specific countries. I just checked the settings of the CentralNotice and the Wiki Loves Monuments banner was not enabled for the Czech Republic. If you (or someone else) sees the banner of Wiki Loves Monuments while being in the Czech Republic, this means that in your browser you have a cookie or something that indicates that your connection is/was made from (in this case) Slovakia. In the past I have seen examples of this happening even a month after the visit to that other country. So far I know this is not something we can solve, but users who had this issue earlier have solved it in the past by deletion cookies (or closing the current session). It also happens that it changes automatically. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 18:39, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Romaine Just to clarify: this means that if someone was to access sk.wiki from outside of the country, they would not see the banner, correct?--Jetam2 (talk) 21:28, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Jetam2: If people are accessing Wikipedia from a country where the banner has not been enabled, they would not see it (unless the active cookie/connection as result of having been in Slovakia). Romaine (talk) 07:32, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Romaine Thank you, I understand. However, the solution does not strike me as ideal. If I live elsewhere but still frequently visit a wikipedia that is outside my borders, so to speak, there is still a big chance that I have pictures from that country and would want to participate. For example: though I actually live in the CZ I go to Slovakia rather often, have pictures and want to participate. I would not have known about it had I not been already involved.--Jetam2 (talk) 08:07, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Jetam2: Yes, it is a difficult thing, I know the difficulty as I live close to a tripoint and travel abroad often. It is not possible to know who has photos of monuments from another country. And enabling a banner for the majority of people in a country while they can't participate in that country, is also considered a bad practise. Both the international team as the local teams use social media to reach out in general, but also to those people living outside the countries that participate in the photo contest. And for people living in a country where WLM is organised, there is the rule that each local team has to mention the URL of the international website, sot that people are able to navigate to the list of countries that participate. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 11:07, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

@Romaine: Hi, thanks a lot for the explanation. Now it makes sense to me. Since the banner is linking to Slovak page contest when you are in Slovakia, it is hard to understand for the foreigners who click on the other-than-Slovak language banner (e.g. on English Wikipedia). We also have an English version, so I was thinking if we could distinguish wheter the user came from Slovak language banner or other-than-Slovak language banner and get them to the right page: Slovak one for Slovak banner, English one for banners in other languages. Btw., the banner started to link to https://www.wikilovesmonuments.org/?pk_campaign=Centralnotice instead of our project page. Can you please revert it to the working previous version with our project page? Thanks a lot and sorry for the ongoing bothering, --Luky001 (talk) 10:25, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Luky001: That is a tricky thing for multiple reasons. The minimal thing we ask local organisers to do is to add a page in English somewhere, so that people who speak another language can read about it.
- Please check if the issue of the link to wikilovesmonuments.org is still persisting. I just made some changes that hopefully prevent it to happen again. Romaine (talk) 11:07, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Romaine: It still links to international website. Maybe just a matter of time? --Luky001 (talk) 11:28, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Romaine: Works! Thanks --Luky001 (talk) 11:40, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

- @Romaine: I think this banner might be generating an error. Commons admins (who have JS to make errors visible enabled by default) reported. "SyntaxError: Unexpected DOMEval. at injectBannerHTML". —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 11:19, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- @TheDJ: Some ago minutes the banner went back to the previous version. Is this issue still there or solved? If not: the banner has been split in two to reduce the risks of bugs/errors, it matters now if someone is from France/Spain or elsewhere. Thanks! Romaine (talk) 11:25, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Romaine: Yes, this issue is still there, and i am from Nepal. Kind regards, — Tulsi Bhagat (contribs | talk) 11:30, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Tulsi Bhagat: The stable version of yesterday afternoon has been restored, please check if the issue is solved. Romaine (talk) 11:41, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Romaine: Yup! solved. Looks good to me. Thank you! Kind regards, — Tulsi Bhagat (contribs | talk) 12:31, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

Sámi banner in Norway
editHello! I would like to request a special Sámi banner for Norway. This banner should run on se.wikipedia in Norway. It will use the normal layout for the WLM banner, but with the following texts:
- (Northern Sami) Searvva máilmmi stuorámus govvagilvui! Dan jagi lea Wiki Loves Monuments Norggas sierra kategoriija sámi kulturmuittuide.
- (Norwegian Bokmål) Delta i verdens største fotokonkurranse! I år har Wiki Loves Monuments i Norge en egen kategori for samiske kulturminner.
- (Norwegian Nynorsk) Delta i verdas største fotokonkurranse! I år har Wiki Loves Monuments i Noreg ein eigen kategori for samiske kulturminne.
- (English) Join the world's largest photo competition! This year, Wiki Loves Monuments in Norway has an extra category for Sámi monuments.
If possible, I would like to ask that this banner runs with no traffic limitations (e.g. 100 % coverage), because this specific wiki is very small and gets little traffic, so we would like to capture any readers we can. Jon Harald Søby (WMNO) (talk) 14:39, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Jon Harald Søby (WMNO): Implemented! Romaine (talk) 20:38, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
- Please note: as a result of a bug, the texts have been temporarily disabled and will be worked on again tomorrow (Sunday). Romaine (talk) 22:51, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Romaine: Any progress? :-) Jon Harald Søby (WMNO) (talk) 19:33, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Jon Harald Søby (WMNO): I just got an error message when I tried to implement it, I will ask to have a look at this. Romaine (talk) 06:06, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Romaine: Any news now? Jon Harald Søby (WMNO) (talk) 12:25, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Jon Harald Søby (WMNO), Sorry, I was on vacation. I have requested in the past weeks multiple times to look into the bug, but it has not been done (so far I see). Therefore I created a separate banner for Norway that is live now. If there are any issues, please ping me. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 05:59, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
