The effect of dyeing parameters such as salt concentration, soda concentration, temperature and time on color strength and fastness properties of cotton knitted fabric dyed with direct dyes were studied in this work. Cotton knitted fabric was dyed varying one parameter and keeping the other parameters same in exhaust dyeing method. It was repeated for every parameter. The effects of variation in dyeing parameters have been assessed by color fastness to rubbing, color fastness to wash and color strength (K/S). The samples were tested according to ISO standards. From the results it was observed that K/S increases with the increases of salt, soda, temperature and time. No significant change in colorfastness to wash (change in color) for dyeing parameters variation was observed. Dyeing parameters have a little effect on the color fastness to wash (color staining) and rubbing.

This technology overcomes the drawback of applying traditional methods to impart certain properties to textile materials. There is no hesitation that in the upcoming years, nanotechnology will break through into every vicinity of the textile industry. Application of nanotechnology in modern textile lies in areas where innovative principles will be combined into long-lasting, multifunctional textile structures without compromising the intrinsic textile properties including aesthetic, breathability, flexibility etc. The current condition of nanotechnological use in textiles arena is reviewed with an emphasis on improving various properties of textiles.

Technically seam performance is portrayed by strength of seam, elongation of seam and efficiency of the seam. Seam performance can contribute as an imperative factor in determining the durability of a garment. Different combinations of denim fabrics were used for seam strength and efficiency analysis together with four different types of commonly used stitch structures along with three types of sewing threads like 40, 60, and 80 tex. Seam strength and efficiency for different denim fabrics were changed consecutively with varying types of stitches combined with increasing stitch density.
