Example 4 | Copenhagen (Q1748) → 1,627,705 |
Planned use | I want to add the agglomerative populations of europes biggest cities. |
See also | part of (P361) -> denotes the metropolitan area, population (P1082) -> shows you the administrative population |
Motivation
editIn a highly populated area there are three different values for the population: The administrative which shows you the population within artificial borders, the agglomerative which shows you the cities population in its natural borders and the metropolitan which shows you the population of the whole densly populated area. Currently when a population (population (P1082)) is given its only the administrative population and through the property "Part of" (part of (P361)) the metropolitan area is presented (without a number). I want to present a more realistic value of a city with this new property. I imagine this property as a qualifier under the current property for population. 2003:C3:EF19:F26A:D4:FF1A:9E69:E0B9 11:32, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
Discussion
edit- Question wouldn't the same number already be on another item? --- Jura 16:24, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose The urban aglomeration is probably ennough different of the in city to need a distinct item. Like, we have Trois-Rivières (Q44012) and Trois-Rivières Census Metropolitan Area (Q16674321) are two different items. --Fralambert (talk) 22:56, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose, per Fralambert. --Yair rand (talk) 01:26, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose Different border in which the population is to be counted imply different items in Wikidata logic. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 06:55, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose At least unless an example where it would not be workable at all to have a separate item of the "X urban area" form. Circeus (talk) 01:36, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
