Motivation

These pages are already often linked to from Wikipedia team articles, and we already have this property for players in Soccerway. Seems like an obvious addition to me –IagoQnsi (talk) 16:58, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

One point worth talking about with this property: do we want to keep the full URL slug, or just the numeric ID? When you click a link to Soccerway for FC Cincinnati, it takes you to https://int.soccerway.com/teams/united-states/fc-cincinnati/35679/, so you'd assume "united-states/fc-cincinnati/35679" is the ID. But all you really need is the numeric value -- the URL https://int.soccerway.com/teams/-/-/35679/ works just as well. For Soccerway player ID (P2369), we keep the entire URL slug, but for the related property P3043 (P3043), we only keep the numeric ID. I'm of the opinion that we should only keep the numeric ID (and then also we should change P2369 to do the same, and then merge P3043 into it, but that's another story). What do you all think?

To clarify, this would mean changing the allowed values to \d+ and the formatter URL to https://int.soccerway.com/teams/-/-/$1/. My example values would change to 35679, 944, and 4593, respectively. –IagoQnsi (talk) 16:58, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
