populate Member of, year, section, field, country
editHi @Gerwoman:, thanks for populating https://tools.wmflabs.org/mix-n-match/#/catalog/1387 !!! We'll be working to match all these people as part of a DG RTD project called Tracking of Research Results.
But we also want to record the following (see Enrique Alarcón Álvarez (Q49242534) as example)
- country of citizenship: Spain (already existed)
- AE member ID (P5463): Alarcon_Enrique
- member of (P463): Academia Europaea (Q337234)
- field of work (P101): earthquake engineering (Q909789)
We can import such statements using QS2 after we do the matching with MnM, but we can use some help with scraping https://www.ae-info.org/ae/Acad_Main/List_of_Members/ListMembersByAlphabet. Did you scrape this to make catalog 1387, and is it possible to scrape this extra data? (year, section, field, country)
--Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 08:56, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
Hi @Vladimir Alexiev:, the catalog already includes country and field for all the members, current and former. Perhaps is possible to scrap year and section as well. I will try in a few days, but I'm sure that you can do it yourself. --Gerwoman (talk) 19:59, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Vladimir Alexiev: I've already done a new catalog with all the data. Please be aware that some entries don't have "country" and some don't have "institution". --Gerwoman (talk) 14:57, 9 November 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks @Gerwoman: you are a wonder. Some data incompleteness is expected, no problem. --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 22:43, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
Honorary and Former Members?
editHi @Gerwoman: did you scrape https://www.ae-info.org/ae/Acad_Main/List_of_Members/ListMembersByAlphabet?
I wonder if you have also scraped:
- more importantly https://www.ae-info.org/ae/Acad_Main/Members/Former_Members. Just because someone died doesn't make his membership less important
- You can find former members on https://www.ae-info.org/ae/Acad_Main/List_of_Members, but have to check "Deceased"
--Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 08:59, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
- As mentioned in PREV section, Former members are included. Honorary are just a few, and not really scientists, so unimportant whether they are scraped --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 22:53, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
