Discussion
editUpdating to Olympics.com
editOn 29th of April 2021 www.olympic.org athletes section has been merged into a new IOC platform/web-site Olympics.com. New platform is the successor of the old one and is the platform to host all the athletes database. Old www.olympic.org links redirect to olympics.com. Should we update the template somehow and/or merge it with Template:Olympic Channel? Please note that Olympics.com uses Olympics.com athlete ID (P5815) from Olympic Channel database (now Olympics.com athletes database (Q56411957)) and not Olympic.org athlete ID (archived) (P3171) from Olympics.org athletes database (Q28796597). In 99% cases they are the same but not always. Take a look at Michael_Phelps for example. He has "michael-phelps" as an Olympic.org athlete ID (archived) (P3171) and "michael-phelps-ii" as an Olympics.com athlete ID (P5815). Thanks! VLaiquendi (talk) 17:59, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

- I don't think we should change anything on this property. The identifiers are not exactly the same as for P5815, as much as I am aware, so there is no possibility to redirect for sure. —MisterSynergy (talk) 10:34, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
- As long as olympedia.org remains accessible to the public it should stay the primary reference for our articles. It is the original source for all the information that you can find elsewhere. Therfore you can also expect it to be always up to date. I'm not familiar with the frequency those updates are replicated to other databases but I strongly doubt that this happens in real-time mode.
