Debut The Hill of the Lone Star Tree

Tamarind (Japanese: あいしゃ Aisha) is a character in the Magical Pokémon Journey manga. Her only appearance is in The Hill of the Lone Star Tree.

Tamarind is first introduced when she rescues Carob, Gramps, Pikachu, Clefairy, and Peanut's Charmander after they fell off a cliff while on their trip to visit Mandy at the Lone Star Tree. After blacking out from the fall, Charmander wakes up in Tamarind's arms, and she reveals she was especially worried about him because the light on his tail had nearly gone out.

Tamarind befriends Carob, then points him to the Lone Star Tree. When Carob asks about Mandy, Tamarind explains that she had been a beloved family member and was buried by the tree, as that was where she used to go on dates with someone she loved. When Gramps visits the grave, Tamarind witnesses his reunion with Mandy's spirit.

In Volume 7's "Pokémon File!", Yumi Tsukirino reveals that Tamarind gets her Japanese name from her friend's child. The same is true for Carob.

Mandy (Japanese: カゲちゃん Kage-chan) was Tamarind's only known Pokémon. Tamarind saw Mandy as something of a grandmother, as she had been in the family since before she was born. Mandy was friends with Gramps and had promised to meet him near the Lone Star Tree years before she passed away. She has since been buried there.
