Route 217 (Japanese: 217ばんどうろ Route 217) is a route in northern Sinnoh, connecting Route 216 and Acuity Lakefront.
In the games
Route description
This route is in the middle of a huge blizzard, hampering visibility and the ability to run or ride bicycles. Also, in all battles, it will be hailing, damaging any non-Ice-type Pokémon. The Ice Rock is located at the extreme northeast, causing Eevee to evolve into Glaceon if it is leveled up on this route. When the player enters this area in Pokémon Platinum, they encounter Maylene, have a chat, and then she runs off to Snowpoint City.

Diamond & Pearl arc
Route 217 appeared in Striking Out Snover, where Platinum and Maylene traveled through the route on their way to Snowpoint City to meet Candice. While they rushed ahead, Maylene told Platinum how she was helping Candice to overcome her Ice Pokémon's weakness to Fighting-type moves.
Trivia
- Just like in the Eterna Forest, it is impossible to evolve Eevee into either of its time-based evolutions, Espeon and Umbreon, here, due to the presence of the Ice Rock.
- If the player re-enters the house near the Ice Rock after the Spell Tag is obtained, the woman that gives it has disappeared. When obtaining the Spell Tag, her speech is: "...A person...? ...A rare sight... ...Thank you for visiting... ...A gift..." The nature of the item, in conjunction with Ace Trainer Olivia's comments of hauntings in the area, implies that the woman was a ghost, specifically a Yuki-onna. This also draws parallels with Eterna Forest, where the only other (human) ghosts in the game can be seen.
- In Pokémon Masters EX, Shauntal can mention this ghost in one of her Pokémon Center conversations, speculating that the ghostly woman could've been a Froslass, which also draws inspiration from the Yuki-onna.
- Route 217 is similar to Route 43 in Johto as both routes are north-south, both routes have the north end as a lakefront, and both lead to the city where the seventh Badge is obtained. Both of these Gyms specialize in Ice-type Pokémon.
