The cover of this volume is orange to celebrate the third anniversary of the release of Pokémon.^[1]

Errors

VIZ Media second edition

Meowth's name is misspelled as "Mewoth" on page 52 and Slowpoke's name is misspelled as "Slowpoké" on page 63. On page 178, Silph Company is misspelled as "Sylph Company".
At the end of the book on page 205, Raticate and Doduo are listed with levels from volume 4 instead of their current ones.
- The same page also mistakenly lists Graveler's typing as Normal/Ground instead of Rock/Ground.
