Groudon has long been described in mythology as the Pokémon that raised lands and expanded continents. This Pokémon took to sleep after a cataclysmic battle with Kyogre.

Release information

This card was first available as a Holofoil Nintendo Black Star Promo, and was given to participants of the Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire Challenge, held at several locations across the United States in August 2003. A Non Holofoil version was subsequently distributed in the October 2003 issue of Nintendo Power magazine. This print features a Dot Code strip for use with the e-Reader. In Australia, another Non Holofoil version, this time lacking the Dot Code strip, was later distributed in an issue of the kids magazine, K-Zone. In Japan, this card was available as an insert in the February 2003 issue of CoroCoro Comic, released in January 2003. It was later reprinted as a Holofoil card with a different promotional number and was given to those who redeemed a ticket featured in the same publication at participating venues. All of these promotions were released alongside Kyogre ex.

Trivia

Origin
