The purpose is to dig deeper into the psyche of a man who fired three bullets on the "Father of our nation" and the judicial process which led to the culmination of this historical trial. An attempt has been made to thoroughly analyse the statement of the main accused, Nathuram Godse, to understand whether the murder of Gandhi was the result of a political conspiracy or a sharp clash of ideologies. The paper should not be considered by any means a celebratory account of Godse or an attempt to glorify his act.
