Anaïs .Van Ertvelde
I hold a BA and an MA in history from the University of Gent, Belgium as well as an MA in Gender Studies from the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. To get those two degrees I wrote as many dissertations. One on the evolution of the women's movement in the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium - which was awarded the Johanna Naber prize for the best thesis in gender history in Belgium and the Netherlands. One on the interplay of gender, sexuality and heritage in the history of Castrum Peregrini, a Dutch WOII resistance site turned cultural centre.
My research interests are located in the rich playing field between gender history, history of the body, history of sexuality, the evolution of social movements and history of disability/crip/critical disability studies
Right now I'm working on a doctoral thesis as part of the research project Rethinking Disability: the Global Impact of the International Year of Disabled Persons (1981) in Historical Perspective.
Supervisors: Monika Baar
