As mistakenly discussed on my talk page instead of here, Sina needs to be restored as an alt name here or, if that's actually disputed, fully removed from Sina, where it's already listed. Anyone planning to improve the article should be aware of that jumping through several hoops may be involved. — LlywelynII 17:15, 12 Aprilis 2024 (UTC)Reply

Just one hoop: cite a reliable source. (I might yet find one: I seem to recall I did a similar thing for an edit of yours once before.) Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 08:43, 13 Aprilis 2024 (UTC)Reply
@LlywelynII: I've got one! I'll do the edit this afternoon, unless someone else does it first: right now I must pot on my little tomato plants. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 08:54, 13 Aprilis 2024 (UTC)Reply

Chang'an (nomen Anglicum)

I copied this from the Vicipaedia:Taberna: it seems relevant here. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 15:30, 14 Aprilis 2024 (UTC)Reply

Scripsit Andreas: "optime, sed fontem nominis Latini Changanum frustra (usque adhuc) quaesivi." Here too, and apparently, the tempting Latin term Sianganum designates a city, "Siangyang," said to be on the Ham River in Huquan Province at longitude 129.16, that may be Xiangyang, on the Han River in Hubei Province, at longitude 112°07′19″E. Chang'an is on the Wei River. Confusing evidence, but let's register it here, in case it helps. IacobusAmor (disputatio) 13:44, 14 Aprilis 2024 (UTC)Reply

It might well help. What a mess of names, Chinese, Latin and English!
In case it isn't clear, my doubt concerned specifically the Latin "Changanum", which has been on our page since 2009 without any source. It may be perfectly OK, but I can't confirm it. However, if it isn't OK, we hardly need feel the loss, because the "Singanum" that we can derive from the name of the vicariate, or, even closer, the "Sianganum" cited by Iacobus here, would do just as well. Revertere ad "Siganum".
