Dr. Ramesh Kumar Maskey
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ramesh Kumar Maskey completed intermediate in Electrical Engineering from the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University (IOE-TU), Nepal in 1979. He has a MSc. in Civil Hydropower Engineering from Byelorussian Polytechnic Institute, Byelorussia (1987). After coming back from higher education abroad, he worked as a lecturer in IOE-TU and as civil-hydropower engineer in Arun-III Hydroelectric Project at Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) since 1988. Later he also received MSc. in Resources Engineering (1996) and Doctorate in Civil Engineering (2004) from University of Karlsruhe, Germany. After living and working in Germany for 12 years, Dr. Maskey returned home to take responsibility as full professor of civil engineering at School of Engineering in Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal in March 2006. He served as the founder Head of Department of Civil and Geomatics Engineering, the coordinator of Centre for Excellence in Production and Transportation of Electrical Energy (CEPTE/KU), an Energy RDC unit of KU. He also served as Academic and Administrative Dean of School of Engineering (2013-2018) and is, at present, the Director of Student Welfare of KU. To his credit, at KU, are the initiation of Bachelor of Engineering in Geomatics Engineering (2007), Civil Engineering (2009), Chemical Engineering (2016) and Architecture (2017). He is the member of Subject Committees for Civil, Geomatics, Environmental, Chemical and Architectural subjects at KU and Civil Engineering subject at IOE-TU, the member of Faculty Board and Research Committee of School of Engineering and the patron of Robotics Club of KU. He served as international consultant for GIZ in WAPDA, Pakistan on behalf of Institute of Water Resources and River Engineering at University of Karlsruhe in 1999 and worked as a visiting professor at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland in 2017. With more 30 years of professional experience in different organizations, his research, development and consulting (RDC) interests covers a wide range of subjects viz., hydraulics of river and dam engineering, hydropower engineering, renewable energy technologies, mini-grid hybrid systems, design and fabrication of generator and turbines.
