Xiao Huang
I am a global citizen, an active artist and scholar. I once taught and did academic research in the United States, Poland, Mexico, and China. Currently, I'm teaching at International Art College, Krirk University, Thailand.
I'm good at integrating performance art into the teaching process to stimulate students' imagination and creativity. My research interests and fields are very wide, from Joseph Beuys's performance art to Frida Kahlo's self-portraits. In general, my focus is on aesthetic theory and contemporary art, especially performance art.
My most recent performances are "Take a Long Knife and Cut My Hair" and "I'm a childless cat lady, so what?!" These two interactive performances were staged at my courses "Aesthetics and Criticism in Art" and "Issues and Trends in Art" for postgraduate students, I was also invited to perform the above in Krirk Gallery.
My teaching activities are accompanied by art experiments and immersive experience projects, and my recent teaching activities include "Experiencing a Piece of Ice" and "Reminiscing of Objects". I have always encouraged students to engage in artistic practice and creation. The graduate students I have mentored have just collaboratively completed a performance art piece titled "Tearing Off Malicious Labels".
The interdisciplinary art exhibition "Pink Bomb", conceived and curated by me, will open on January 1, 2025, at Krirk Gallery. This exhibition, which explores themes of female empowerment, love, and peace, will run until February 15, 2025. The venue is located at Krirk University in Bangkok, Thailand. Admission is free, and everyone is warmly welcome to attend!
