RAPTOR PERCH

Shenandoah National Park, VA The barred owl, also known as a hoot owl, is native to eastern North America. Adults are large, and are brown to grey with barring on the chest. Barred owl parents will care for their young for up to four months, much longer than most owl species. It hunts mainly from a perch but will also hunt on the wing, preying on small mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and invertebrates. Comments not necessary, thanks for viewing.
