Alex Hale | CHIPS Performance Training on Instagram: "Every catcher needs to learn how to talk to umpires. Start by introducing yourself. From there, you should find out three things: 1. How long he’s been umpiring. 2. His first name. 3. What he likes to do when he’s not umpiring. Don’t give him your snapchat, don’t make it weird. From there, you can pretty much say anything as long as you face forward. This is one of the longest & oldest catching laws. You can ask him about locations, where he thought the ball was and even disagree with him, as long as you’re facing forward. Also a good time to bring up you should have a signal with your coach if you thought a pitch was a strike. When your coach asks if it was a strike, because you’re gonna tick off the umpire. Remember, you want him o
Reagan Glanz on Instagram: "Mechanical breakdown of lower half during a throw down🦵⚡⬇️ (Part 1 of 2) Recap: 1. As pitch is coming in, shift weight into left leg to get hips on line (point knee to target) 2. Footwork = right to left, left to target 3. Push off back leg, but more importantly - pull with front leg (anchor left heel in ground) 4. Throw “over/around” front hip/leg with a tall straight finish (anchor) Simple, right? In the next video, I’ll be going over what our top half should look like during a throwdown. Be on the look out👀"
Reagan Glanz on Instagram: "RAPID Redirection is 🔑⬇️ The quicker we can redirect the ball, the better our chances of throwing out a runner are. A quick transfer can make up for a not-so-strong arm… yeah, I said it👀 That said, it's important to balance speed with proper throwing mechanics. Because on the flip side… a great arm can make up for a slow transfer. Let’s just have both💪⚡ Progression: 1. Stationary bare hand transfers 2. Stationary transfers with mitt 3. In and out as fast as possible (with proper throwing mechanics) 4. Full throws #softball #catcher #baseball #training"
Reagan Glanz on Instagram: "If you struggle with blocking, screenshot this ⬇️ . . . 1. Traditional Stance: • Middle: Replace feet with knees, create a ~50-degree angle with your chest over the ball, and try to round your back/shoulders. • Lateral Left: Push off the inside part of your right leg and aim to angle your chest toward the plate • Lateral Right: push off the inside part of your leg and be careful of angling around too much (if a runner is on first base, you’ll have to turn all the way around to get your front hip aligned with 2B) 2. LKD Stance • Middle: Rock back into the right heel, hip hinge, and lower chest over the ball accordingly • Lateral Left: Hover/Float your left knee enough to where you're able to glide it to the left. Use the same push-off technique with the

Reagan Glanz on Instagram: "Take your guesses👀 Answers⬇️ . . . 1. Force at home with an opportunity to turn a double play 2. Tag at the plate. 3. Force at home. This could be the last out of an inning OR a “just get an out” type of situation where you don’t have a shot of turning a double play."
Reagan Glanz on Instagram: "ANGLES📐⬇️ Disclaimer: 1. This is what I do (not every time, but a lot of the time), and it has worked for me. Everyone is different! 2. This demo is overdramaticized for you to see a clear difference. Moving on…. You're taught to angle your chest toward home plate to block the ball on/close to the plate. Why not use the same concept with framing? Using our body to “move” pitch limits our glove movement - in which I'd argue that most umpires are watching the glove over the body. (Framing is real… don't come at me people.) We are also not actually moving the pitch itself; we are just manipulating our angle to create deception. Does anyone else do this and find success within it?"
Coach Tyler Aasland on Instagram: "THIS is how you receive a drop ball - get low with your chest, create a slot with your glove in front of your knee, when you step to the side to sink even lower to the ground, and last but not least work up and underneath that pitch and work against the break of the ball to bring it back up to the zone. Follow for more! 🥎"

Jen Schro Catching on Instagram: "Breakdowns: Block to throws! ✅ 1. Grab that blocked ball HARD that’s spinning out of control in front of you - don’t be afraid to put some WEIGHT behind it! 2. Spin backwards with your back leg into your knee throwing 2 position, elbows up thumbs down - in games, this move doesn’t have to be perfect, we are just getting our back foot planted behind us as soon as possible in a position to throw! 3. Kick hard forward, reach tuck and throw to second base! This reach tuck and throw should feel reeaaaally similar to our regular knee throws. 4. Put it all together!"

Reagan Glanz on Instagram: "How far away from the plate should you set up?⬇️⚡️ Too close: 1. You get get called for catchers interference 2. You’ll get bonked in the head with a back swing Too far 1. you’re letting that pitch break out of the zone making it near impossible to frame for strike in the umpires eyes 2. You’re also going to end up with a lot more balls in the dirt when your pitchers throwing a drop or change Find a happy medium between those two and you’ll be good to go You should try to stand as close to the plate as possible with room to avoid catchers interference or a vicious backswing Read where the batter is set up in the box and adjust accordingly. You should also know the type of batter in the box 1. long and lengthy 2. Short and compact 3. Slapper vs. powe
