Handwoven Sporran Bags
Iseabal Hendry’s woven leather and lace creations are a beautiful expression of historic and contemporary craft traditions combined. We've worked with Iseabal to tweak the design, making these sporrans wearable for both gents around the waist and anyone across the body as a bag.
Skye Knives Gotlandic Knife
Our range of knives are forged and handmade by Jake Clelland of Skye Knives in his workshop in Orbost on the Isle of Skye. The Gotland knife has a 4 ¾-inch single-edge blade of hardened 1095 high carbon steel, polished and etched to show the hardening lines and honed to a fine edge. The blade is fitted with a sycamore handle, carved with Mammen beasts. The handle has an inlet crenelated copper ferrule, patterned after finds from Gotland, and a copper butt plate secured with copper pins. The blad
Butterfly lands on kilt
We commissioned Soorin Shin of Wobbly Digital to design a range of kilt pins that moved beyond the traditional motifs of war, power and patriarchal authority. Translating the Scottish tradition through her eco-feminist lens, she suggested the altogether more peaceful emblems of a butterfly and a fish, and we were hooked. Available in four colours, 3D-printed using bioplastic.
Ingot Objects in Bloom
Glasgow-based ceramicist Jonathan Wade founded Ingot Objects as a range of utilitarian wheel-thrown and hand-built simple forms. The pieces are made in a rustic style from basic clay bodies and materials, embracing impurities in the clays and irregular surfaces, and incorporating wild clays and materials Jonathan collects himself.
Lupetto neck knitted jumpers
Visiting the Shetland Woollen Co in Hoswick on Shetland, we fell in love with their chunky, almost bestial Lupetto knits. They are still made by local Shetland knitters in their own homes, using hand frame knitting machines, before assembling the finished garments by hand.

The 17 places for wild swimming in the UK
Skye Faerie Pools, Isle of Skye It may seem an odd name, but swimming in these rocky pools is a magical experience. Pink and green hues imbue some of the pools with a phosperescent glow, and two are linked by an underwater arch. If you swim underneath, you’ll see the rock face is encrusted with pieces of quartz. It feels a million miles away, and the surrounding landscape of black rock and grassy knolls adds to the atmosphere.
Jeni Allison Blue Digital Drape Blanket
Jeni Allison's work bridges the gap between the ancient art of fireside knitting and the latest developments in computer aided manufacture. Her Blue Digital Drape blankets were designed using a digital model of hanging fabric, transposed into a 2D design and jacquard knitted into physical, lambswool blankets. The result has a fascinating character, subtly playing with our optical and tactile perceptions and expectations. The genius of mind, hand and machine working together to comfort, provoke a
Shetland Woollen Co Lupetto Neck jumpers - Medium / Charcoal Speck
Visiting the Shetland Woollen Co in Hoswick on Shetland, we fell in love with their chunky, almost bestial Lupetto knits. They only sell these jumpers from their own store, and we departed with one each (which we both wear most days). Happily, we have since managed to persuade Sarah and Louise to provide us with a range to sell at Bard. The reason they are scarce is because they are still made by local Shetland knitters in their own homes, using hand frame knitting machines, before assembling th
A Frayed Knot Ghost Rope Hanging
We spotted this majestic beast hanging up outside Mark Cook’s garage when we visited his home on Orkney in the summer. It is knotted and woven using old fishing rope collected from nearby beaches and donated by local fishermen. Today, it hangs in our stairwell at Bard, casting ghostly shadows as the sun passes overhead. It is a calm yet powerful piece of contemporary folk art, and serves as a poetic reminder of the plight of plastic in our seas. Hanging: 150 x 223 cm, Pole: 180 cm Please contact
