Texture matching and similarities between the camouflage objects and surrounding maps make differentiation difficult with generic and salient objects, thus making camouflage object detection (COD) more challenging. The existing techniques perform well. However, the challenging nature of camouflage objects demands more accuracy in detection and segmentation. To overcome this challenge, an optimized modular framework for COD tasks, named Optimize Global Refinement (OGR), is presented. This framework comprises a parallelism approach in feature extraction for the enhancement of learned parameters and globally refined feature maps for the abstraction of all intuitive feature sets at each extraction block’s outcome. Additionally, an optimized local best feature node-based rule is proposed to reduce the complexity of the proposed model. In light of the baselin...

Random breakdowns occur on the server and the repair may not be immediate. The authors assume the possibility that the server may take a vacation at the end of a given service completion. The server resumes operation according to T-policy to check if enough customers have arrived while he was away. The actual service of any arrival takes place in two consecutive phases. Both service phases are independent of each other. A Markov chain approach is used to obtain the steady state system size probabilities and different performance measures. The optimal value of the threshold level is obtained analytically.

The GSK algorithm mimics the process of gaining and sharing knowledge during the human life span. It is based on two vital stages, junior gaining and sharing phase and senior gaining and sharing phase. The present work mathematically models these two phases to achieve the process of optimization. In order to verify and analyze the performance of GSK, numerical experiments on a set of 30 test problems from the CEC2017 benchmark for 10, 30, 50 and 100 dimensions. Besides, the GSK algorithm has been applied to solve the set of real world optimization problems proposed for the IEEE-CEC2011 evolutionary algorithm competition. A comparison with 10 state-of-the-art and recent metaheuristic algorithms are executed. Experimental results indicate that in terms of robustness, convergence and quality of the solution obtained, GSK is significantly better than, or at least comparable to state-of-the-art approaches with outstanding performance in solving optimization problems especially with high dimensions.

In this era, the Internet of Things (IoT) offers healthcare systems or checks and discovers patients in epidemics to prevent the virus from spreading. In order to tackle the current COVID-19 pandemic, intelligent health care based on IoT is becoming increasingly vital in better digital technologies. This technology allows gadgets to link hospitals and other predefined sites to tackle this dilemma. The cognitive Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) is a potential technology for quick analysis, dynamic monitoring and control, improved therapy and management, and prevention of viral transmission. This technology can send a message to the hospital immediately in an emergency. Due to the importance of this subject, the influence of IoT-centered innovations in the management of COVID-19 is examined in this article. The three main areas, including early detection, viral prevention, and patient care, are considered in this paper. The results showed that using IoT, such as drones and robots, has been fruitful in reducing contact with patients and identifying disease symptoms. Also, they showed that the IoT wearable gadgets and the cloud platform to store the patient's information have helped doctors track the patient's condition.

For this purpose, recently, the use of fog computing from a real-world perspective has emerged, utilizing end-user nodes and neighboring edge devices to perform computation and communication. This paper aims to develop a quality-of-service-based energy optimization (QoS-EO) scheme for the wireless sensor environments deployed in fog computing. The fog nodes deployed in specific geographical areas cover the sensor activity performed in those areas. The logical situation of the entire system is informed by the fog nodes, as portrayed. The implemented techniques enable services in a fog-collaborated WSN environment. Thus, the proposed scheme performs quality-of-service placement and optimizes the network energ...

The same practice has been adopted in the electrical industry with a deregulated electricity market (EM). This enables competition among generating companies (Genco’s) for maximizing their profit and it plays a central role. With this aim, each Genco gives a higher bid that may result in a risk of losing the opportunity to get selected at auction. The big challenge in front of a Genco is to acquire an optimal bid and this process is known as the Optimal Bidding Strategy (OBS) of a Genco. In this manuscript, a new variant of whale optimization (WOA) termed the Amended Whale Optimization Algorithm (AWOA) is proposed, to attain the OBS of thermal Genco in an EM. Once the effectiveness of new AWOA is proved on 23 benchmark functions, it is applied to five Genco strategic bidding problems in a spot market with uniform price. The results obtained from the proposed AWOA are compared with other competiti...

In Part I, a fresh conjugate gradient (CG) technique is suggested and then combined with a line-search technique to obtain a globally convergent algorithm. The finite difference approximations approach is used to compute the approximate values of the first derivative of the function f. The convergence analysis of the suggested method is established. The comparisons between the performance of the new CG method and the performance of four other CG methods demonstrate that the proposed CG method is promising and competitive for finding a local optimum point. In Part II, three formulas are designed by which a group of solutions are generated. This set of random formulas is hybridized with the globally convergent CG algorithm to obtain a hybrid stochastic conjugate gradient algorithm denoted by HSSZH. The HSSZH algorithm finds the approximate value of the global...

This method contains some modifications to improve the performance of the simulated-annealing algorithm (SA). Most authors who deal with improving the SA algorithm presented some improvements and modifications to one or more of the five standard features of the SA algorithm. In this paper, we improve the SA algorithm by presenting some suggestions and modifications to all five standard features of the SA algorithm. Through these suggestions and modifications, we obtained a new algorithm that finds the approximate solution to the global minimum of a non-convex function. The new algorithm contains novel parameters, which are updated at each iteration. Therefore, the variety and alternatives in choosing these parameters demonstrated a noticeable impact on the performance of the proposed algorithm. Furthermore, it has multiple formulas by which the candidate solutions are generated. Diversity in these formulas helped th...

A problem arises for a decision maker who wants to optimally choose a subset of candidate consumers to maximize the distributed quantities of the needed safeguarding substances within a speci c time period. A nonlinear binary mathematical programming model for the problem is formulated. The decision variables are binary ones that represent whether to choose a speci c consumer, and design constraints are formulated to keep track of the chosen route. To better illustrate the problem, objective, and problem constraints, a real application case study is presented. The case study involves the optimum delivery of safeguarding substances to several hospitals in the Al-Gharbia Governorate in Egypt. The hospitals are selected to represent the consumers of safeguarding substances, as they are the rst crucial frontline for mitigation against a pandemic outbreak. A distribution truck is used to distribute the substances from the main store to the hospitals in speci ed required quantities during a given working shift. The objective function is formulated in order to maximize the total amount of delivered quantities during the speci ed time period. The case study is solved using a novel Discrete Binary Gaining Sharing Knowledge-based Optimization algorithm (DBGSK), which involves two main stages: discrete binary junior and senior gaining and sharing stages. DBGSK has the ability of nding the solutions of the introduced problem, and the obtained results demonstrate robustness and convergence toward the optimal solutions.
