Purpose
The purpose of the KaosPilot School is to create positive societal change through personal growth and enterprise
Mission
We strive to qualify the student vocationally as well as personally to thrive interdependently by developing their knowledge, skills and attitudes as pro-active learners, value-based leaders and sustainable entrepreneurs, for the benefit of themselves and society as a whole.
Everything starts with the individual and the individual passion and drive and then spreads with the knowledge of our interdependency. Students at the KaosPilots must explore what they consider to be positive societal change, and then adjust their actions to aid this development, while allowing and helping others to do the same.
It is our mission to create the frames for this process of learning and change to take place - to be a school, that focuses on helping the individual realize his potential, and use this to make a difference in the world.
Being a school that believes in change, the KaosPilots must also embody change and so every couple of years all the involved parties meet up to evaluate our education, in order to ensure relevance and quality. Our values, and the vision we are working towards as a whole, are continuously developed and so the ideas presented here are what we wish to stand for now.

Papers by Simon Kavanagh
The realisation has arrived; that the degree of complexity of the ‘wicked’ challenges we’re facing in the world today requires multi faceted and experiential teams of people. At the KaosPilots we have stepped up our research into how best to train our students to play a significant role in the leadership of such processes, adding it to an already strong change making competency and methodology. We want to produce KaosPilots who can facilitate, nourish and create the safe spaces for these multi-disciplinary processes to take place and evolve, ensuring a high level of innovation and collaboration, where ego is left at the door, aiming at solving ‘holistically’ and authentically the need at the heart of the problems we face.
Thankfully, this is becoming more apparent to academic institutions, well at least to the ones who have any connection with the world outside, their students and with the industries and companies whom their students increasingly contest to be employed in. Although, the number of such institutions waking from their slumber is increasing, it is not happening as fast as their potential and current students are waking up to their rights and the mature awareness that they will not get the education or skills needed to create or take the type of job that they are looking for! The increasing divide between industry and academia is growing, not shrinking, which is a fundamental outcome of the insular and egotistical focus of most universities and their subject matter’s relevance to a changing world.
Teaching Documents by Simon Kavanagh
At this moment, hundreds of thousands of teachers, trainers and consultants all over the world are adapting, hacking, developing and designing learning to be delivered on-line. They are doing an amazing job in the pursuit of creating education and training continuity for students of all ages and all disciplines.
The Learning Arches (LA) can be used to 'sketch' quick first drafts for how learning, knowledge and training can be formatted, framed, (un)packaged and delivered online over any period of time determined by the course, programme, client or the time period to be bridged before normality is restored post Covid-19.
To support this online transition in a creative and analogue way first, just sketch! By drawing the learning journeys first, we start thinking laterally about learning and discover how our content and learning can be packaged in creative, inclusive & interactive ways.
Learn how to design learning that unfolds and builds ownership, craft, talent, genius whilst sustaining the flow, transparency, challenge and impact.
