Priyanka Jha
I am a Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Geography at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. My academic background in geography includes a Master of Arts from Jamia Millia Islamia and a Bachelor of Arts (Shivaji College) from the University of Delhi.
My research focuses on urban environments, and I am interested in how access to nature might improve people's emotional well-being. This has helped me see how we can make our cities better places to live by making them more egalitarian and sustainable and by providing chances to more people. Incorporating green spaces and natural elements into the urban design can promote community and connection to the environment. Additionally, my research has shown that equitable access to these spaces can positively impact mental health outcomes for marginalized populations.
My main research interests are greening cities, smart cities, urban green spaces, GIS, ecological restoration, biodiversity conservation, environmental sustainability, mental health, and GIS. As an urban geographer, one of my primary goals is to create communities that welcome and accommodate people of all backgrounds and lifestyles, including those who want to live in a location where nature thrives or who want to feel closer to nature in their backyards.
