This paper aims to look for a suitable mobile broadband solution in the South Asian region through comparative analysis in various perspectives. Both WiMAX and LTE are 4G technologies designed to move data rather than voice having IP networks based on OFDM technology. Proving competency in various significant aspects WiMAX and LTE already have made a strong position in telecommunication industry. Again, because of certain similarities in technology; they aren't like technological rivals as of GSM and CDMA. But still they are treated as opponents and viewed as a major threat in case of the flourishing of each other. Such view point is surely not conducive for getting the best out of them. In this paper various aspects and applications of WiMAX and LTE for deployment have been analyzed. South Asia being the reside...

Mobile WiMAX brings wireless broadband to a new dimension providing the support of nomadism.IEEE 802.16e standard for 4G Cellular Technology-Mobile WiMAX is proposed to support mobility. As a result, handover has become one of the most important QoS factors. Lack of clarification in the conventional algorithm for handover process leads to significant wastage of channel resource along with undesired delay. It also causes substantial degradation in the overall system performance. Existing standard for handover includes scanning as one of the most vital processes.Scanning requests without proper response and delayed initiation of scanning only deteriorate the scenario. This threatening handover delay is a huge obstacle for the optimum performance of mobile WiMAX. In this book, various problematic scenarios of handover procedure have been shown and from that a...

LTE is the latest standard in the mobile network technology tree that previously realized the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSxPA technologies. LTE is expected to ensure 3GPP's competitive edge over other cellular technologies. The standardization process of LTE is almost at its end. With industrial attachment very few radio planning works of LTE are going on. But because of certain commercial issues those works aren't widely available. Radio network planning is a very vital step for wireless communication technology. As standardization work of LTE is approaching the end line, it's high time to go for efficient radio network planning guideline for LTE. In LTE just like other cellular technologies, initial planning is normally guided by various industries and vendors at their own discretion. They aren't likely to disclose their advancements and findings. That makes the job even m...

Going on with LTE radio network planning is a well-chosen challenge and a certain hot topic in the current research arena. Again, efficient radio network planning for a densely populated city adds to certain level of complexity in the overall work in terms of proper resource management and capacity requirement fulfillment. In this paper, a detailed LTE radio network planning procedure has been elaborately presented which concentrates on nominal and detailed planning considering possible network implementation in the most populated Indian city Mumbai.

The ever-growing need for higher data transmission capacity drives the network service providers ... more The ever-growing need for higher data transmission capacity drives the network service providers to build cellular Long term evolution (LTE) networks in urban areas. 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) LTE is the evolution of the UMTS in response to the ever-increasing demand for high speed data and high quality multimedia broadcast services. LTE promises to deliver an unrivalled user experience with ultrafast broadband and very low latency and at the same time, a very compelling business proposition for operators with flexible spectrum bandwidth, smooth migration and the ability to deliver low cost per bit voice and data services. LTE is designed to have wider channels up to 20 MHz, with low latency and packet optimized radio access technology. The peak data rate envisaged for LTE is 100 Mbps in downlink and 50 Mbps in the uplink. LTE has many promising features like bandwidth scalability. It is developed to support both the time division duplex as well as frequency division duplex mode. This paper provides analyses of the performance of radio parameters required for efficient LTE radio planning through numerous simulations in different transmission modes and radio environments. It mainly highlights the throughput and Block Error Rate (BLER) with respect to Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) on the physical layer and in network context through different simulation environments.

The aging population has led to shortage of specialists in the medical field, depriving remote and underprivileged areas of better healthcare. The advances in information and communication technologies offer hope of technologies that have a great potential to reduce mortality and morbidity while improving the healthcare service delivery. Telemedicine is a magnificent tool that bridges the gap between the specialists and patients, bringing specialty care to the location of the patient in life time. In this paper, a comparative review of some of the existing telemedicine architectures has been presented. It is followed by solutions for some ongoing challenges in Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network (WMSN) considering telemedicine applications. Finally a WMSN enabled telemedicine architecture integrated with a 4G wireless cellular network is proposed.

In this paper various aspects and applications of WiMAX and LTE for deployment have been analyzed. South Asia being the residence of an enormous number of people presents an exciting opportunity for mobile operators, developers and internet service providers. So, every consideration that has been made here also correlates successfully with south Asia i.e. how mass people of this region may be benefited from it. As a result, it might be regarded as a good source in case of making major BWA deployment decisions in this region. Besides these, it also opens the path for further research and thinking in this issue.

Better preprocessing and feature extraction may fail to give better accuracy if the recognition process (includes training and testing) is incompetent. In this paper, some heuristics are proposed to make the backpropagation training algorithm perform better. Finally, character recognition accuracy results obtained from different algorithms are compared.
