Is your game a video game or a physical game?
Video game
Was your game made solo or in a team?
Solo
Did you use any third party assets, if yes what assets did you use?
BigManJD's grasslands tileset (https://biggermanjd.itch.io/platformer-tileset-pixelart-grasslands); Grape Soda font (https://fontenddev.com/fonts/grape-soda/)
Did you choose from one (or more) of the optional secondary themes?
Not intentionally. You might(?) be able to consider both players being purely palette swaps of each other to be "You're Your Own Worst Enemy", but that's a bit of a stretch.
Does your game contain 18+ content (Nudity, Gore, Language)?
No, only goreless violence.

Wow! Pretty amazing smash clone on the Pico-8! Game feels REALLY good to play. It has almost everything you'd expect from a platform fighter! Though gravity is tuned abit too high. I feel like a sack of bricks when I get pushed off the stage haha. The high gravity makes it really difficult to recover imo.
Overall a great game and an awesome entry!
thank you!
and yeah, i'm currently in the process of reworking the physics for a post-jam update (updates?). the current system is a mix of copying code from older unreleased projects and "eh, this feels fine enough for now".
i'm also planning to add wall jumping, potentially a 2nd jump, more/ better stages, and reworking the numbers on some of the attacks (in this context, the up-air, which is meant to be a sort of recovery)
What a great little game! The sound and effects in combination with the Super smash inspired mechanics really added a lot to this entry plus it was also executed really well! Even the Ai was working which is a big deal! great stuff!
thanks!
i'm quite proud of the sounds, effects, and ai; they're all surprisingly simple under the hood despite how effective they are ^ ^)
Lots of little effects and charm, will come back to it for sure ^^ I like the glowing effect on player damage and the slowdown on loose. Well polished package !!!!
Thank you!
although, fyi, i am making a post-jam version now, and it has more polish, more features, and more juice (like a bit of stun upon hitting someone with high percent)!
Love it, simple but effective super smash style antics. I only tried playing against CPU but I am sure it's really fun with 2 players!
Thanks you!
And yeah, i didn't have much of a chance to playtest with anyone, so the cpu was partially so i could actually test things out myself, lol
Very cool. Didn't realize there were more to the controls than just a normal attack and jump, but once I got going with the additional techs, things got pretty interesting. Nice bright little game. Sadly only got to play vs ai though.
Thanks! and yeah, you don't seem to be the only one...
i've already put it on my todo list to add an in-game tutorial in the post-jam update(s), and not just so people would know the controls;
as is on this games page, i was/still am really inspired by FOOTSIES, which is basically an attempt to make as minimal of a normal fighting game as possible (only left, right, and attack).
it also includes multiple tutorials, in-game frame data, and so on, to help people learn the fundamentals of fighting games.
so, it'd be my greatest achievement to make this game be similar, but for platform fighters.
(i also intend to diversify/better the ai, so that's something for everyone!)
Amazing little entry, it was a joy to see it through the development process!
TIL you have stances/combos you can do with lookin up and down, really helped with the fight! One day I’ll beat the pesky bot!
Combat feels nice, the Ai is an absolute menace and I like it, no pause for me during the fight!
Would’ve loved a little soundtrack in the background, but the sfx inside are well made!
Nice job!
I really like the game!
Thanks!
Great platform fighter, a really fantastic game and one I will definitely play again!
Thank you so much!
So. This is a fighter brawler type of game. I confess, I'm not a super smash bros' kinda player. I'm not really a big fan of it. I tried a couple rounds, lost, ended up being kinda awkward with how to use techniques and the like. Though I appreciate the pixel aesthetic. Its well presented and pretty clean overall.
I'm not a good judge for this. I can't claim I had fun if this wasn't my type of game but I will respect the effort done to make this type of game. Well done.
Thank you.
I'll admit, this is not a good example for someone who isn't already at least a bit into platform fighters.
and one of my inspirations being FOOTSIES, which is an "introduction/teaching game" for regular fighting games (Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, etc)
Still, I am proud of quite a few things with this game.
...but,
there's definitely a lot i still have to work on if i want this game to be in a "non-gamejam" state.
again, thanks for your feedback
and if you or anyone else decides to actually read through this.super nice game. I love fighting games
Super well made! The CPU's AI is definitely well thought, I had lots of trouble to win against it haha. After a few attempts, I got a little spammy with the jump attacks and managed to kill it with all 3 stocks hehe.
Visuals and animations are lovely as well, really great job with this one!
Thank you!
I'm quite proud of how the AI turned out; it's really simple code-wise, but even I have to try hard to beat them "^ ^)
And yeah, I have the habit of using a lot of aerial attacks too.
I already added a bit to make it jump over (spammy) grounded attacks, maybe I could make it strategise better around aerial attacks too? > >)
Smash bros clone, love the speed. Played only vs cpu but plan on doing 2p tonight.
Would like a block button!
Blocking is actually an interesting topic!
First of all, this game is made in the pico-8 fantasy console, which has (close to) the same number of controls as the NES: you only have a d-pad and 2 buttons per player. so, with a jump and attack button, i've already run out of buttons "^ ^)
Second, if i do figure out a good way to bind it (perhaps as jump + some aim?), i'd rather add a parry, like in Rivals of Aether; a block you'd need to time correctly, basically.
Thanks for your input!
Great funny game such a nice visuals
Thanks!
