I was planning on trying to create a sudoku game for a while, but the peaceful team really helped be finalize the game idea quickly!
Tools
Aseprite, just generally I think the best pixel art tool (or Libresprite, the free version). My engine is PICO-8 which do to code and size restrictions helps you focus on your idea and avoid feature creep.
Lessons
Making sudoku games isn't that hard, and the transition system I made will be coming up for more in the future!

Very nice. I’m usually not a huge sudoku guy but the restricted size / symbol set makes this the perfect amount of doku for me. Ended up trying a random Doku level puzzle and had a good time solving it in 44 steps. Also did the daily, nice job! Really well-executed. The little shapes in th ebackground and the fx when you win feel really good!

Cute little sudoku-like game. It would be nice to provide some instructions that it is supposed to be played like a sudoku puzzle, I was confused at first as to what to do. i like how the animated background subtly enhances the overall aesthetics. Well done! :)

Good old classic but in a new minimalistic way. I think it's nice and polished. :) Can't stop to play once more.
Great idea for a small game! Using symbols instead of numbers is a fun idea too! I'd love to see a larger version someday with 3x3 instead of 2x2!
3x3 is def. in plan I just couldn’t justify fitting it into the lowrez one!

Easy to understand, fun to play, the fact you even have the copy paste mechanic of a daily game (and within PICO-8 none-the-less) is such a nice bit of polish.

really nice level of polish, especially in the menu selection / background. I'm a big fan of sudoku games so this was right along my alley. Would be nice to add some objectives for the number of steps to solve dokus by for each level of difficulty. The music was a bit short and ended up being repetitive, but overall it didn't take away from the gameplay. I also love the PICO8 vibe!
I played every bit of difficulty and the hardest mode a few times, with 30 as my high score.
Great job overall!
At the moment the only goal in daily version is that you can boast on your socials about being really fast or solving it as little steps as possible.

It's a neat little doku.
in the genre it is a success, the atmosphere is calm and I like the minimalist side of the whole, the different levels of difficulty are well seen
