Did you work in a team?
Yes, with 2 members:
ChrisRollsDice for Programming, UI, and SFX
Pikablock for Art, Music, and Level Design

Was the resolution a challenge?
The challenging part of the resolution was making distinct art and animation at such a small size. UI and menus were also a challenge because there was little space for text and buttons.

What did you learn?
We learned about making animations, platformers, puzzle design, and using player settings.

Nice concept, graphics in some points become a bit messy but still readable, maybe a few adjustments in contrast could help there. attack animation is maybe a bit slow, does not feel like a powerful sword swing. Overall a fun gaming experience, well done!

Had some bug / unexpected thing happening… in the room with 2 switches on the ceiling to open the doors with a big and a small box I was carrying the big one, picked the small one and it transformed into a big one…

Thanks for the feedback! This is my first gamejam and my friend’s second so there was bound to be mistakes haha

No matter how many jams/games you’ve developed… bugs will be the ever-present uninvited guests. So don’t worry too much, tough it is quite important to test as much as possible what you are doing to catch as many as you can before releaseing. Hope to see you guys joining more Jams from now on ;)

I found this pretty straightforward for the first few levels although the controls feel a bit 'off' somehow. However, once it got to the level with pressing buttons to open doors for a limit time I had to give up, I just don't have the co-ordination these days. Shame as I'd like to have played a bit further. Anyway, seemed pretty well put together and enjoyable. Good work.

I think it's a fun little game with some interesting challenges based around the central mechanic~ As someone else wrote, I think moving the action commands to the J/K/L area on the keyboard would make it much easier to control, but overall, great work!

Nice art. Overall, I felt a bit overwhelmed. I started the first level and was immediately attacked by two knights right at the moment when I was figuring out how to control the guy.

It would be great if this game could focus on one challenge at a time. Give us a chance to catch our breath and learn how to play it, then provide progressively harder things to do

Interesting mechanics, nice and art and music. The controls are a little uncomfortable sometimes.

I like the concept of this game.  A s other people said the controls feel a bit off/floaty/slow.  The pixel art is nice and varied.  At one point (on the level with a green box, a red box, and two switches above) I got stuck and had to re-start because somehow my mashing pickup/put-down turned  the green box into a red box lol.   I liked the animations btw, like the way the enemies turn into boxes for examples is very fun.

Yep that is one of many glitches that we found. We even somehow found out how to make an actual F L Y I N G M A C H I N E

Clever platformer, the mechanic with enemies turning into blocks is great and I'd love to play more levels.  Also it wouldn't have hurt if the controls where slightly more polished =)

Developer

Yeah, balancing the boxes to be easy to pick up and use was harder than expected, so we didn’t have that much time for polishing. Appreciate the feedback!

neat puzzle game controls felt a bit loose and made some things a little frustrating

A neat little puzzley platformer!  The controls felt a little slippery but not too bad.  Nice pixel art!  A good use of the resolution.  Nice job!

This is a really interesting platformer! I don't think I've ever seen the idea of enemies that turn into terrain when they die. I found it a little tough to control (I managed to get past level 4 using the trick you describe on the page), but it felt like I was wrestling with the slipperiness of the boxes now and then.

For what it's worth, I think box-based puzzle platformers (where you move crates around) will inevitably have some slipperiness and awkwardness in the controls. This might restrict play too much, but I think snapping the boxes to the buttons when they're close might be a possible solution to some of the issues where a small nudge would displace a box from a button (and close the door).

I think I cheesed a few levels by abusing the fact that there's a delay between when a switch is released and when the door actually closes.

There are some great ideas here, and I like the small mix of combat with puzzle! The art was also perfect, the animation of the bots transforming into boxes was great. Good work!

Thank you! The concept for this was actually inspired by a mobile game called Total Party Kill. I will definitely try to update the game on my own time and fix bugs to make it a bit cleaner and such.

I really liked the puzzles!

I'd suggest you to move interaction/attack keys  to "J/K/L" if you're enabling controls for "WASD" and jump for "Space," for games you're going to make in the future. Using "WASD" keys for movement and keeping my thumb on "Space" all the time makes it hard to use keys in between.

Other than that, good job on utilizing the use of resolution restriction. The art looks awesome! I really like the sound effects and the audio overall as well. And, the most important part, the levels were fun to play and solve!

Well done!
