GAMEPLAY
The gameplay was engaging once I understood the mechanics, offering a mix of a little bit of puzzle-solving and action. The levels were enjoyable, featuring various weapons and a satisfying victory animation. The game became increasingly challenging, adding to the excitement, although it became quite difficult and more frantic towards the end for me to finish it all. Was enjoyable to play!
ART STYLE / VISUALS
The pixel art was excellent, enhancing the game's aesthetic appeal and fitting well with the overall theme and mechanics.
AUDIO / SOUND DESIGN
The music and sound effects were effective, enriching the gaming atmosphere and complementing the action-packed gameplay.
INNOVATION
The game was somewhat innovative in how it merged mini-puzzle elements with action platform levels, providing a unique twist within the game jam context.
THEME
The theme of isolation was cleverly integrated into the gameplay, using the mechanics of isolating part of the levels.
Overall a fun polished execution for this game jam theme. Well done 💪
I really liked the fights and the way to enter them on the board, very good idea great job
I think that it is a creative idea and i really like these types of puzzle - like games, but i had a hard time understanding how to play and how to get my isolation score up so i can do more things that's probably why i couldn't pass the first level but at least i enjoyed the graphics of the game while playing even though i found it a bit weird how there's a big difference between the art in the board scene and the art in the enemys scene.
After you finish your isolations, you press the LOCK button to select which island to land on.
The sprites and animations are fantastic! I love the diversity of enemies, and everything feels very clean and polished. Great game!
There are some really good bones to this project.
First of all, the art style is AMAZING. And the level isolation is a unique and cool idea (once I understood what it was asking me to do). Clicking and dragging an empty tile to separate the enemies into different combats was not intuitive and I only accidentally discovered how to do it when I was frustratedly spam clicking the tiles trying to understand what that interface was asking of me. I didn't really get what the instructions were telling me at the start.
Perhaps if instead of the current method of breaking up the level by click-dragging an empty tile, you could select where to set off a bomb (Bomber-man style + shape). Heck, I would even have it blow up dudes on the tiles it hits for even more interesting choices for the player to make?
Either way, this project is absolutely dripping with style, the artist(s) took it to another level. Just wish the interfaces were a lot more intuitive and the controls felt more responsive overall. I love the ability to leap, dash and grapple my way up a level, but 80% of the time I was trying to do that, I was just unable to control it in a smooth way and would just fall to the bottom floor instead, aiming the gun while dodging around felt a little off as well, but I loved all the little details and features like swapping to a shotgun blast point blank and the unique enemy behaviours and designs.
Really impressive work, would really love to play this again with tighter controls, also I had to turn the SFX to max before starting to hear them. Would be nice if I could get to the settings without having to restart the game.
The art of this game is AWESOME it's very expressive and full of character! regarding the game itself, it was kinda buggy here and there, but it was still very fun. A creative take on the Jam's theme.
Played and rated!
I liked the concept of the game, the combat was fun and the art style looks unique! Loved the animations as well. Overall I really enjoyed playing the game. I got to level 6 and stopped because it was getting pretty long.
What frustrated me mostly was the platforming. The combat itself was fun but most of the time I could not go up and I got stuck below trying to shoot the enemies I couldn't see. The tank was also a bit strong, especially because of the platform bug it's hard to kill it without seeing it.
Great submission! 😄
Would appreciate if you check out and rate our game as well:

Right click a platform to grapple into it.
The game contains pretty good visuals and the other thing I liked was a smooth pixel art animation.Keep it up
You can check out my game as well
The animations really shine on this one, it's really rare to get hand animated pixel art during jams, well done.
My only gripe is that the gunplay doesn't feel great - it's alright and works, but could really use some particle systems, camera shakes, and a little more "oomph" on the audio side of things.
Player animations are super smooth, cool thumbsup + smile at the end of the levels, I like the theme interpretation, in one stage I couldnt see where the snipers where and as I was with the uzi and couldnt reach them so I got locked, I didnt hear sfx aswell, and the music fits really well.
if you right click, you can use your grappling hook
you can also turn up the sfx in the options at the start
I had fun playing the game, but I think I couldn't get past level 4, or 5
The art style and sound design was great !
Try buying a new gun.
Very fun and visually stunning game! Although the game was easy and sometimes it was hard/impossible to reach enemies on high ground, but the experience was good :)
right click a platform to grapple
Really excellent game overall, congratulations! I found it got a little repetitive around level 8 or 9, or so. And then 13 feels like it’s impossible, so I gave up. ~~Really too bad y’all didn’t get sound effects in~~ wow somehow I must’ve muted them by accident first time through cause I just checked and they do in fact exist lol. I think it’s really unfortunately unclear how and when the grappling hook is allowed to be used, and it has a lot of buggy behavior, some of which is funny but mostly confusing. The narrow tall level feels like it’s nearly impossible because of it. The shotgun actually felt like a downgrade compared to the grenade launcher, especially against turrets as the best way to beat them is to get right next to them and the shotgun pushes you away. Also a personal complaint but I hate having a dash like this on the same hand that does WASD, would’ve loved to rebind it to right click and used shift for the grapple, maybe.
Overall super fluid, fun, amazing entry and y’all should be proud!
I can assure you that the damage output you get from the shotgun is much higher than what you will get with the grenade launcher. The grenade launcher is specifically designed for AOE and the shotgun's damage is basically a sniper shot that has very little cooldown. The knockback is to make sure you gain distance so you won't be punished for trying to get up close.
Totally fair, it’s just that specifically with the turrets being right next to them is advantageous since they can’t hurt you (at least as far as I could tell)
I absolutely love this one from the art to the animation to the fluid controls and the unique and interesting execution of the "isolation" prompt. Gives me such classic newgrounds vibes. Great sound design as well!
oooohhh, love the art on this, looks amazing, pretty good game!
