Yay, I did it!
Very belated thoughts, but since I made the music, I felt obligated to check this out. Overall pretty impressive for the limited time frame; sound design is very good, I like how it's randomized to make it always unsure who the necromancer is, and with a notepad handy, it was a fun little cerebral exercise finding out which testimony didn't line up.
Love the grim fandango thing you have going on. Lighthearted setting, writing, sound, music, art all worked well together. I'm a sucker for train murder mysteries.
Admittedly... my memory is nowhere near good enough and I gave up on taking notes. So I kicked the wrong person off :-) That's on me. The "anybody could be the murderer" thing is neat - perhaps it could have been tighter (fitted in my memory) if only half of them were (the other half tell the truth) - but maybe that's not a good idea.
thank you so much for playing!! sorry you found it too much to remember at once, I am planning to add some kind of in-game notebook to make it easier hopefully. Also glad someone picked up on the grim fandango inspiration :)
Very cute and charming! I love the idea of a reverse murder mystery!
thank you! :)
Good work! I wasn't very good at it but the level generation is surprisingly good and the art is great!
thanks! glad you liked it!
I really liked the concept of the game, but I couldn't figure it out and remember everything at once. Maybe a clue tracker or something would help if you keep developing this! Very fun thougH!
Thank you for playing! I agree it is too much information to carry in your head as it is right now. If I make a post-jam version, I will add some kind of in-game UI for keeping track of all the information.
This is hilarious! I love the concept of the mystery being that someone was brought back to life. Good job!
thanks for playing :)
I died of laughter the first time I kicked someone out of the train! Fun atmosphere, silly skeletons, great game! I also got a picture of a octopus plushy for my gf out of it, thanks! But seriously, had a very good time! Thank you!
thanks for playing!! glad you enjoyed :)
I could not figure it out, but I loved the art and overall theme. I thought it was cool how the names were different each time, though it squashed my idea of "just guess a different skeleton until you get it right" plan!
I think if the stories had some more variation that would have helped, but since it's different every time (and this was made on a short time table) it's understandable.
thank you for playing!
Loved it but I didn't get the answer right. There was a lot of samey dialogue about going to the front and coming back for me to follow in my head.
But it's a charming concept and a great fit for the theme.
thanks for playing! It is definitely too complex right now without any kind of in-game way of keeping track of everything, sorry. Glad you liked it anyway!
Such a charming concept! These kinds of murder mysteries are always fun. ^^
thanks for playing! glad you liked it :)
Thank you for the experience.
Had to whack out 2 sheets of A4 for this one! I really enjoyed piecing their stories together and finding the contradictions. I started it again as I was impressed to see it was all different, it's amazing you managed to create proc gen for it too! I took photos of the evidence but it wasn't necessary in my playthrough.
The writing was very funny, and I thoroughly enjoyed flinging the necromancer off the train. Very good game!
Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it!!
This is a really funny premise. I love the charm of the game, from the world building to the dialogue, but my attention span is too short to go through everything.
Thanks for playing!! I think I made it too complex with the amount of information each character gives you, sorry
“To my horror, I saw the victim alive and well” I LOVE this game! It’s so full of charm and style. There’s some wonderful bits of dialogue, and it has a whimsy and playful mood. The little details, like pulling the chain to make the train hoot, the fact you can look at the terrain outside, and the ending animation really pull it together. As for gameplay, I did find myself a little overwhelmed by the information each character gave. Perhaps it could be focused down a little more - especially since the combinations of photographs and possible characters grow very fast!
Thank you so much for playing, I'm glad you like it!! I do agree it's a bit of an information overload at the moment, the mechanics could definitely be reworked to be less overwhelming.
