MISSION COMPLETED?

Hey this one was excellent! Probably among my favourites.

The one thing I didn't like is that there's very little transparency above walls, ended up killing me a few times. There're weird "Go to the next floor" paths in the middle of nowhere in some floor but I don't know if they're shortcuts or bugs.

It's super fun. It's well presented, controls perfectly. I wasn't fan of the bullet spread until I discovered there's an upgrade to highly reduce it, it's fair game then (and was satisfying to find the upgrade). Buying upgrades is cool, I like that they're some general ones and some dedicated to some weapon types. I didn't understand how picking ammos exactly work, I think sometimes it's random while sometimes you're sure to get ones from your currently equipped weapons? Obviously it's one of those games where you end up using the weapon you don't like more just so you always get to keep your ammos for the one you like either, that's part of the package, but I generally used the one I wanted to use in this end. Difficulty is pretty much perfect which is half of why it's so fun for me, overall it's not that hard but you can quickly get instakilled by a grenade of a military man (most of my deaths) and the first time I reached the boss it was just after meeting Satan who just took all my health so it was satisfying to beat the game.

The different weapons are cool. The bow is my favourite weapon, it screams brutality and I like penetration (can also get the upgrade, I did when I could). Finally Satan's really super cool, both how it's presented, I love it, and how it works giving you a super cool weapon in the process yet it's not really a good thing to meet him anyway, love it. That plus the hostages means your use of the theme is great.

That's a super cool entry, thanks for sharing.

Congrats on beating the game! :)

Thank you so much for playing and your review! I am glad you enjoyed it.

The "Go to the next floor" is a bug ... ahem feature ... which I did not manage to fix until the deadline :D (and still wasn't able to find the issue, though). I will deal with that in later releases.
Also, the transparency issue with walls will be tackled for sure. It is one of the things I got accustomed to, but is a struggle nonetheless.

Regarding the ammo question: while the ammo type is random, you're more like to find ammo for your current equipped weapon. Something around 50% chance to find the "right" ammo.

Meeting the boss after having Satan rip off your health is brutal. But it's all about consequences, right? ;)

Are there any consequences to killing hostages? Otherwise great game! Took me a sec to not get softlocked on floor 2, but it's a great way to make a longer tutorial without adding more text

Developer

Thank you for playing my game! I am glad you like it :)

Yes, there definitely are consequences when killing hostages.

Just less money? Or something real?

Developer

After killing a 3 hostages, instead of a shop you'll end up somewhere else. There you'll get a debuff (e.g. loose health, loose ammo, no more medkit drops, ...).

However, you'll find a cursed weapon in this place as well. While they are stronger, you also receive more damage (another consequence) after picking up a cursed weapon.

holy ***, time to check that out!

There was something about the thumbnail that told me this game is going to be good! And then it's a disappointment every single time! But NOT this time! The game is an absolute banger. You beat the system !

Developer

You had me in he first half, not gonna lie.

I am glad you had fun playing :)

Gave it one more try, just to be sure, and yep, i've enjoyed this one the most from the 20-30 i tried. Felt like a real game. The one thing that bothers me is the shield. It's too fantasy. I'd maybe suggest using a swat shield or maybe a corpse that is pulled from behind your back. To stay in lore

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words! :)

Yes, the shield is definiely too fantasy-ish. In the future I want to replace the shield with a proper one, like the swat shield you suggested. The idea with the corpse sounds super awkward and I love it. Will add it to the list :D

Wow, super gameplay. It was really bullet hell at some point. I love audio and visuals. But I think you should make clearer what is interactable and whats not, cause I often find crates with weapons by accidentely moving into them. Maybe give them brighter colors or some glow?

Developer

Thank you for playing my game and the feedback! :)

To make the interactables more visible would be a great addition. Thank you for pointing that out.

I loved the overall-ness of it, but I'm not sure what the money was for. Maybe because I'm just not good at the game. ;)

Developer

After 2 or 3 floors you'll end up in a shop where you can spend your earned money :)

I hope the game is not too hard, though.

Very impressive artwork for being put-together in such a short time. Great theme! Of course, I instantly shot the first hostage I saw!

Developer

Thank you for playing the game :)
A majority of the time was spent on the sprites and art for sure, but it was worth it, I guess.
